Beautiful orange amber with a lively, long-lasting foam in the Blanche de Chambly goblet. Pleasantly sudsy in the mouth. Lingering aroma of piney, flowery hops with even a kind of doggy smell.

Malty and rather rich-tasting with a pleasant sweetness. The hops are close behind with a big biter rush. The flavor is sticky and resiny with an herbal edge. Serious bitter aftertaste. This tastes charred somehow, with a stickery, burnt toast edge. Something woody and turning medicinal at the finish. It gets less palatable as you sip.

This is more of an IPA by any standards. The total hop domination and the endless bitterness are beyond any liberal interpretation of a Pale Ale. But drinkable enough if you like the harshly hopped style. From the 22 oz bottle bought at The Market in Anacortes.

I had the pleasure to order a the oatmeal stout from this Wash. state brewery for CHRISTmas last year from Malt & Vine, now I can get some of their wares here in NC.Poured into an impy nonic a deep somewhat murky looking burnt orangs with a large blooming head that took forever to settle leaving a few broken rings of lace.Aromas are lighter with mild citric and leafy hops standing out mostly with a bit of biscuit malt.Leafy and minty hop flavors more than citric or pine with a mild citric jab but the leafiness is what stands out mainly to me,a semi sweet caramel/biscuit base. Not bad but not something to search out.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a half finger off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, piney hops and a hint of citrus. Flavor follows with biscuit malt with a hint of toastiness, nice pine hops. Finishes slightly dry with pine and citrus hops. Medium bodied with some creaminess. A very nice, well rounded APA, a bit bolder than normal, venturing into hoppy amber ale territory. This was produced as a limited beer for the Seattle Comicon convention (but got some general distribution); hopefully it will be a regular ale from American.

A: Pours a clear golden orangish amber in color with some significant amounts of very active carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass and some apricot + burnt orange highlights. The beer has a four finger tall foamy/fluffy beige head that barely reduces with a finger tall cap extending above the top of the glass and a full three finger head remaining through the entire drinking of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of herbal and floral hops with a lighter base of caramel malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of caramel malts and wheat with very little sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of grassy, herbal, and floral hops which impart a light to moderate amount of bitterness which fades pretty quickly.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Hints of dryness in the finish. Slightly thin/watery.

O: Pairs really well with the sausages I was grilling and was a nice beer to enjoy while grilling (bison bratwurst and chicken/green apple sausages). Easy to drink and quite enjoyable, refreshing and very close to being sessionable. Only interesting thing to note was how carbonated this beer was as the first glass poured was almost completely head...

A - Pours a murky, dark orange with a fluffy light tan-yellow head with good retention.

S - Subtle hop pine and citrus, with a well balanced malt.

T - Malt wheat and barley with some bitter hop grass.

D - Good carbonation with a light body.

O - Well balanced, more hoppy and appealing on the nose. In honor of Comic-con.

I bought a bottle of Flying Monkey Pale Ale in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a copper color, clear with a slight chill haze, and modest creamy white head.

Smell is a faint grain aroma, with a bit of a brown sugar or caramel scent.

The taste is very good, a sweet bread flavor up front, with a sweet caramel and citrus flavor along side and then a bitter hoppy finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, with a light body and a dry bitter aftertaste.

Overall a nice pale ale, with an emphasis on the malt and caramel flavors but well balanced with the hop flavors as well.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a lightly cloudy orange-amber color with 1/2 inch of white head that had good retention and lacing.

The aroma was a nice blend of floral hops and soft malts. That nice malt base supported some floral notes up front, and a bit of a citrus hop tang in the back.

The body was perhaps a bit on the full side of medium, and was very smooth and even. Drinkability was good, a couple of these slid down easily enough. Overall, a nice little beer. Worth grabbing while it's available.

Appearance has a slightly hazy orange amber supporting a thin dissipating head leaving spotty lace. Smell has a nice balance of sweet caramel malt and the citrus aroma of the hops. Taste has the citrus hop coming forward and carrying throughout followed by the sweetness of the malt. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. A good pale ale, could almost be if not already an IPA.
