Consumed August 17th, 2013 at The Fairplex in Pomona. Obtained form a mobile seller called the Draft Beer Depot.

Beer is a clear, orange-yellow with plenty of active carbonation and a creamy white one-finger head.

Aroma is a bit maltier than expected, with a touch of soap. Fruity, piney notes dominate, however.

Flavor - a little caramel malt then wham! Quite a bite from the combined ABV and crisp carbonation. Some grapefruit peel then very bitter on the finish. This is a big beer.

The mouthfeel is sharp and tingly and a tiny bit thick.

So glad to find this in a place that promised only macros. I would drink another pint of this if I found myself in the same situation in the future, which was standing around at 9:45 am on a Saturday morning, waiting for someone to complete a 5k foam run.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Lake Placid Brewing Company pint glass
From: VONS in Montecito, Calif.
Price: $8.99 for a 6-pack (w/ VONS card)
Purchased: March 28, 2014
Consumed: March 28, 2014
Misc.: There was a born on date, but I didn’t log it

Poured an orange clear color with three fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles coming up. Uneven, light lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention.

Smelled citrus notes, orange, apricot, light peach, Orange Creamscicle, tangerine, floral hops and some bitterness.

Tasted orange, Orange Creamscicle, fairly bitter, floral hops, citrus hops, some apricot, honey, tangerine rind and caramel.

Light body. Oily texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, very bitter finish.

A good beer, but not great. A bit disappointed overall.

Snagged a single bottle at J Webb Wine Merchant in Calgary, poured into a standard shaker pint glass. An orange-copper hue with a shapely and copious beige head, smelling of rather fresh, strong citrus (grapefruit mainly but some lemon and tangerine as well), pine needles or mentholated cough candies, green leaf, and flower shop, with rather subdued toffee buried somewhere underneath the green resinous pile o' goodness. Palate largely mirrors this, certainly swinging well toward the piney, citrus, and floral hop flavors with a crystal malt backbone just barely peeking out. Tons of green, coniferous needle/pine cone, tannic bitter tea, and cannabis flavors that dry the palate, not terribly sweet and a bit like biting into a green banana peel infused with citrus and rose oils. Middle of the road in terms of body and the carbonation is rather prickly. Some green onion appears after a while and the pine gathers steam. Whoa. This might be less zingy after sitting on the shelf for a while. I might have lucked out and snagged something pretty fresh. Great American IPA if you enjoy all the excesses associated with American hopping regimes yet not undrinkable. This brewery seems to fly under the radar a bit and I'm glad these brews have hit Alberta "shores".

This is a local brew for me. I enjoy it. This beer has a nice look, light orange coloring, good lacing. You can smell the caramel malt , with slight fruit notes. With the taste, I got the sweet caramel malt, along with bitter grapefruit, and peach. Not much pine bitterness, or resin, some floral notes.

One of my first IPA's ever. Not the greatest, but solid.
