On tap last February at Funky Buddha Lounge & Brewery.
A: Very dark brew, opaque. Thin off-white head.
S: Nose is brandy, nuts, cider, reminds a little bit of a yellow wine also.
T: Taste is on brown sugar, molasses, grapes, currants, brandy, pear, bitter chocolate with a slight touch of alcohol. A very complex palate.
M: Thick mouthfeel, slightly sticky, warming.
O: Quite an unusual barleywine, the ageing brings a very interesting complexity to it. Very pleased to have had the opportunity to try this.

On tap at the brewery. Poured into a goblet. Reviewed from notes.
Appearance - Deep brown. Small cream head on arrival. Collar of foam after a few minutes.
Smell - Nice if mild. Brandy sweet smell. Lots of chocolate brown malt. Creamy. Better as it warms. Decent barrel character makes for a very pleasant nose.
Taste - Sweet barrel notes, but brandy isn't immediately noticeable. Strong caramel chocolate malt. Reminiscent of an imperial brown. Hops in the finish and a great deal of brandy bite.
Mouthfeel - Boozy. Creamy throughout. Low carbonation. The barrel seems to mellow the base beer.
Overall - Excellent offering from TBC. The base is good, if not just an imperial brown ale. This is complex and delicious.

Good lord, what a treat at FB.
A: Pours a thick rich mahogany color with a small khaki colored cap. Decent retention given the high ABV
S: Lots of apple brandy in the nose right off the bat but no oak. Generally sweet smelling.
T: Definitely apply brandy flavors but not too much and not too boozy. A little woody as it decants. To summarize, this is an awesome, malty, not-so-hoppy American Barleywine thrown into delicious apple brandy barrels
MF/O: Easy drinker, well balanced. F’ing amazing, seek out
