The beer pours a pitch black color with a thick frothy tan head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a solid hop scent with a light citrus feel along with a faint, earthy black malt aroma. The taste is decent as well. It has a nice mix of earthy black malts and citrus hop character. It's mildly bitter up front with a dry, creamy finish. It goes down easy with some residual hop flavor. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a pretty solid IBA. It's easy drinking as well as flavorful.

The last flight of the night, a black ale with a ridiculously low abv.
A: The ale is a blackish brown color, dark but more like a cola. A wispy off-white head pooled together in bands.
S: The nose is heavily roasted, burnt even, with an accent on the underlying roasted malts. The hops that are present are nondescript but provide ample bitterness.
T: More roasts, pushing the ale dangerously close to stout territory. The only saving grace are those hops. Nondescript in the nose, taste-wise they provide plenty of citrusy bite, oily flavors that cut into the roasted malts nicely. The result is a sharp beer, acrid from the malts and bitter from the malts.
M: The mouthfeel is good, bringing both flavors together nicely. The hops could use a little more oomph but they get the job done. The biggest surprise is the low abv, under 5% with quite a flavor profiled packed in. A good nightcap.
