A salute to our founder's grandmother, D'Lila offers a blend of fruit and citrus flavors. Fermented like a traditional wheat beer and hopped like an IPA, Mother's big golden wheat challenges bolder brew lovers, yet lemon and orange peel with bergamot tea make D'Lila a delightfully easy-drinking treat for all.

Made with Bergamont Tea, Lemon & Orange Peels. Bottled 7/16/2013

Poured carefully producing an effervescent orange/copper with a thumb of eggshell colored head. Loads of floaties in the bottle; good head retention & above average lacing

S: Orange & lemons, cloves, faint yeastiness & coriander,

T: Follows the nose, ruby red grapefruit & regular grapefruit up front, plus breadyness. More orange peel, some ruby red grapefruit, plus some tea leaf flavor. Finishes with tons of citrus , a bit of malt sweetness, plus wheaty notes & orange peel bitterness

MF: Medium bodied with lively carbonation

Super drinkability for the ABV, love the hop profile of this! Another Mother's winner

Malty, but the citrus flavors are overwhelming and detract from the beer. Thin mouthfeel. Very nice lace retention. Not one of Mother's best offerings.

A- Pours a bright and brilliant orange in color with a big, frothy head. The head sticks around for a good long while and laces very well too. The body of the beer is very hazy.

S- When the smell hits the nose there is a mix of hops bitterness, light wheat grain, and a touch of boozy bitterness on the back end. In the middle of the scent the orange peel shows off a little with a touch of fruitiness.

T- Wow, so right off the bat, I think this is from last year's batch. Where I anticipated hops and wheat, I got diluted orange and faint wheat flavors with just a touch of mild hops bitterness on the end. While this is way past its prime, the orange flavor that it presents is fairly good. The beginning and middle of the drink is mostly light wheat and semi sweet orange peel. Just a touch of the hops bitterness enters at the end of the drink and balances the fruit and wheat. I can see what they were going for in the fresh beer, and all of the components are here still, but this has to be way better fresh.

M- This beer is smooth on the palate and fairly low in carbonation, which supports its alcohol level. The flavor is light, fruity, and very summery. Fairly easy to drink.

Overall, I think this would be a very good beer when drank fresh. Even well past its prime, this isn't a bad beer. I need to revisit this one fresh in a few months.

I really enjoyed this beer from Mother's. Nice medium copper color in appearance. I definitely got a malty, bready taste up front. Midway through more citrusy with a nice bitterness of hops on the back end. Smells of citrus orange peels. Mouthfeel is terrific. Good lace retention. Very delightful character brew from Mother's. Overall a solid beer and It's worth trying for sure.
