batch 1 8/11 purchased at the Bruery Provisions. Really happy to see more Anchorage brewing around! Always happy to give more Alaskan beers a swirl.
A: Faint amber honey body with cobweb lacing grabbing the glass. Lots of reds, oranges, and golden yellows flash in the glass. There's definitely a likeness to fish scales, makes me think of a lumbering fat fish like a carp. If you like amber earth tones, then this is a looker for you.
S: Bright edible flowers that go heavily into a sugar plum note that makes me excited. Late earthy presence of a barnyard brett that fuses with sweet florals. There's an almost berry like brightness to the smells of plant bulbs. It comes off very light, which makes me think there's either rose hips and or pedals in this beer.
T: Sweet rosewater and blueberry flavor crashes into a wall of bitter barnyard funk. A linger of peppery essence cackles like a low fire in the back of my tongue. This is really well layered with different flavors. Lots of complexity, but the brett is very young. The transition from the floral sweetness into the mild funk is a great one, and the really elegant presence of peppery essence.
M: Light medium feels with a favoritism towards the light side. The beer doesn't come off watery, and there's an almost plant oil like viscosity to the overall feel. It's somewhere between a light syrup and some sort of vegetal oil, but it only coats mildly. It's hard to even notice the glazing unless you really think about it, the beer comes off very elegant due to this.
O: I think this is a really fantastic beer to be putting out as a batch 1 line from a new brewery. I understand that Gabe has been at it for a while (formerly @ midnight sun), however -- I think this will be a beer people will be looking for in a few years. I'd grab some batch 1 of this bad boy and revisit it at some tastings. I most certainly will grab a couple bottles, I think this one will blossom with an elegant floral sweetness like I've never had in a beer. This is like Saison Brett with plums/hibiscus. Really very good.

Love Buzz is an apricot orange beauty. A touch of haze runs through the body but she absolutely glows. The dirty white, soapy head rises to a shallow one finger in height before falling to a skim coat with a dense ring of foam that leaves sticky lace decorating the glass after each drink.
Good Lord this beer smells amazing! I didn't expect this. Right up front is all Citra, a veritable fruit salad of tropical goodies. A touch of lactic sweetness flows through the back as well, which I always get from Citra. Bright rose hips and orange peel shine in the middle. Soft and subtle horsey brett bring up the rear. Soft oak, grape must, the list goes on and on. Faint malt sweetness in the form of cookie dough compliments every aspect perfectly. This is honestly one of the best smelling beers I have ever come across.
The flavor can't quite live up to the lofty expectations the nose has laid down but it's not far off either. The tropical fruit salad thrives. Mango and papaya, lactic sweet pineapple, orange peel, and zesty grape must are all standing at attention. Soft rose hips run through the middle while that horse funk, softly starts to pick up. Malt sweetness finishes things off with the fruitiness overriding it all. The depth is staggering.
The body has a moderate weight with snappy coronation that keeps the beer moving. While there's sweetness upfront, tannins from the barrel dry out my gums and the swallow. There's also a mild hop bitterness on the finish. This beer is amazingly drinkable.
Anchorage hit it out of the park with Love Buzz. The nose is flat out amazing! There is layer upon layer of delicious fruit, funk, barrel, rose hips, and more. It's an all around great beer. I need to find more bottles of this as soon as possible. If you find any of these bottles around buy them all.

Poured from bottle into HF Tulip. Not sure of the year bottled, but im assuming 2013.
Popped cork and brett funk filled the nose (and I opened this outside!)
Pours a nice golden color with a healthy froathy head. Really nice carbonation.
Aromas of brett funk, slight floral notes, and a tad of caramel or sweet notes maybe??
Taste is fruity brett funk with a definite floral punch...a nice sweet fruity caramel finish. The typical saison like flavors are somewhat muted but still know its a saison.
Its really dry...pretty much perfect. I mean this is an absolute perfect mouthfeel for me. Really nice carbonation, dry, but still chugable with a bitter kick to finish.
Overall, this is an amazing brew as you can expect from Gabe. Really freakin awesome!
