750ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a medium creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is brett and soft oak with some sweet malts and a little Belgian yeast.

The flavor is sweet fruity malts with oak and brett and some musty yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, an OK beer - probably my least favorite by them. I like the brett, but it's a bit sweet and I don't think it plays well the the Belgian yeast.

Slightly hazed golden yellow with a quickly forming near-white persistent head that leaves sheets and dots of lace down the glass.

The aroma is Brett-forward, along with notes of green apple, oak, black pepper, and earth. Terrific.

The flavor follows similarly, with the funky Brett leading the way, along with oak, green apple, pepper, and white grape.No alcohol presence.

Medium to full bodied with high carbonation. Near perfect for the style and a joy to drink.

This reminds me a lot of Bitter Monk by Anchorage--good thing, because I love both beers.

Got lucky and happened to roll into Craft on a Wednesday when this had just came in. Poured the usual hazy gold with lots of brett to it, chunky white head. Even though this was 'lots' it seemed lesser when compared w/ the saison, dipa and the witbier.

Belgian yeast thankfully restrained to only the best qualities, which is not a face bracing amount of clove, instead light citrus and chardonnay barrel noise.

Taste as usual hides a high abv, thought the bretty and tart notes were on the lower side for an Anchorage release. Far better than your average belgian trippel for my palate, but the price point on these are always going to be somewhat prohibitive from becoming a regular part of any lineup.

Light peach, hazy with no head with a small rim of tiny bubbles on the side.
Huge fruit aroma. Smells like a sour. Yeast.
Taste like a sour. Huge citrus fruit. Mostly lemon !
Sour feel. Dry to the taste. Lasting fruity hops.
Belgium Triple? Lambec perhaps?
Either way, refreshing.

batch 1, October 2011 bottle date

Pours a bright orange-yellow with 2 fingers of fluffy white head that remain as a thin cap even 6 hours after the initial pour (I slowly worked my way through the whole bottle in an evening.

The smell is brett funk up front lots of hay and oak with a medicinal, herbal quality to it, very "musty basement" in overall aroma. Some bright citrus notes behind that. Smells slightly lactic sour but not overwhelmingly so.

The taste is wonderfully balanced. The brett is definitely the star of the show but it is not overpowering. It is slightly bitter, with some bright citrus to balance it out, just a touch sour.

Mouthfeel is just right, light without being spritzy. The 9% is well hidden, it drinks much more like a 5% gueuze than a tripel.

Overall this is a great beer. If I had to find a fault with it, it would be that from memory I can't really tell the difference between this and the anchorage wit that I had a while back. There is nothing in this beer that screams tripel to me. With that said, if you like brettanomyces, this is like a nice complex gueuze, only not as sour.

A: Glowing and muddied orange with a medium sized tight white frothy head.

S: Stinky fermented fruits such as raspberry, cranberry, orange and apple over farm fresh grains and flowers with a tangy lemon punch. Tea aromas as well. Very interesting and enjoyable for sniffing.

T: The first thing I notice upon tasting are the implosively soft, unexpected and unusual characteristics of this beer. And WTF? This is 9%??? Also quite unexpected... So more on flavor: This beer has a lot of various bright fruity flavors...Apple, lemon, numerous berries, and even cantaloupe. The white wine works its way in very well too. There's also a dry woodiness. All these flavors combine together very smoothly. There's a lot of indefinable depth yet somehow this is light and refreshing. Not sure how that is possible... Sweet, sour, spicy, bright, 'barnyardy' and colorful.

M: Full body when you observe it, but it wants you to think light-medium. A hint of alcohol warmth when you sip this yet still very drinkable.

O: Excellent.

Apparently a collaboration between Anchorage and Dogfish Head, although the Dogfish Head name is hardly made visible on the bottle print. Batch #1, Oct/2011.

A natural, unfiltered looking beer, kinda raw in appearance: super hazy/cloudy pale dirty yellow/gold with a foamy head that leaves gobs of lace on the glass.

Aroma gives off more Chardonnay than tripel, and a whole lot more Brett-y funk than either Chardonnay or tripel. A bit of wood nudges in. Nice fruity layer in the nose, like sniffing a cup of thick, combined, just-squeezed pear and peach nectar.

The spiciness of a tripel comes into the taste, and the Belgian yeast character (Brett, of course) is as assertive on tongue as in the nose. This mingles with the aforementioned pear/peach juice, Chardonnay, and wood. A bit of a green, leafy hop vibe too, and lemon peel. Fragrant, perfume-y, floral vibe overall. Huge waves of Chardonnay coat the mouth in the finish, mingling nicely with lemony hops.

There's such activity and complexity in the taste, I hardly even noticed the feel and probably wouldn't have cared if not reviewing. I mean, it's quite fine, achieving a great balance between fizzy tickle and smooth buttery texture, with the latter winning out just a tad...apparently every aspect of this beer is a winner.

I don't want to see Anchorage back themselves into a corner with all these triple-fermented, white wine barrel-aged beers...except these beers have been incredible so far, so if they turn into a Jolly Pumpkin type brewer (variations on a theme) then hey, no complaints from me. I've recently been won over by several Chardonnays, after not thinking I was ever going to acquire the taste for wine, so this is a real treat, considering big beers are my thing and the tripel is among my favorite styles. So if you're a beer drinker of similar mindset, you're going to want to try this, pronto. As with all the Anchorage stuff. Wow, best newcomer of the last several years, I think...

Golden slightly cloudy body with lots of lace. Funky and spicy, a little wood and tart fruit. Nice triple,white winish, not getting much Brett flavour or impact. Above normal mouthfeel. John's bottle that was drunk in a hurry this hot summer's day.

Hazy gold body, thinnish white body. A bit of lacing.

Some funk, a bit of booze, and a trace of Maytag bleu, and a lot of Belgian yeast.

Really interesting character. A bit of the bubblegum from Sorachi Ace. Some leafy (arugula?) bitterness, and some decent funk.

Nice smooth mouthfeel, bottle-conditioning is evident.
Awesome bottle-conditioned mouthfeel.

Interesting and quite complex. Lots of stuff going on, but it just barely escapes being an 'everything bagel'.

smell: spice, white pepper, oak, chardonnay, yeast

taste: A nice pairing for the bold lamb dish - white grapes, oaky chardonnay barrel, pear, lemon rind, floral, a nice kick provided by the brett, leafy hops, citrus

mouthfeel: creamy medium body

overall: non-traditional, but tasty. the chardonnay barrel and brett are nice touches

There's nothing Earth-shattering about the look. It's an attractive faded peach color, almost a milky gold like a wit. It's quite hazy. There's no head. There is a small film of white bubbles but nothing to constitute a head. A swirl livens the bubbles, but it dies quickly and leaves barely enough to call it lacing.

The nose is genius. Loads of yummy fruit come wafting from the snifter...orange, pineapple, and that crazy, funky Brett yeast. Just an amazing scent.

Sadly, the taste doesn't match the expectation. It's all hops and yeast. With the exception of orange rind and some yeasty pepper spice, ere's little else.

You expect a bit of sweetness from the way it smells bit you never get it. Extremely tart and mouth puckering, like a kriek. Not so much bitter as it is tart. A little heat from the high alcohol and the spicy yeast. Not an easy drinker.

Overall, it's very disappointing from the initial characteristics. Another swing and a miss from this brewer. I try to like them but I just don't.

750 mL bottle poured into a mini snifter. November 2012 bottle.

Appearance - Beginning of the bottle is clear yellow orange. The end is quite hazy and murky. Small white head.

Smell - Brett, but nothing over the top. Some earthy notes. Citrus. Some hops and esters. Sharp white wine adds to the acidity.

Taste - Tough to discern a tripel in here, but that might be a good thing considering American breweries' track record with tripels. Esters are strong. Pale malt. Spicy. More white wine than the nose, but a bit less brett. Bright citrusy flavors.

Mouthfeel - Well carbonated. Brett hasn't completely taken over, but it's got a touch of tang to it.

Overall - I bet if you took the brett out of this, it would be another mediocre American tripel. Brett helps this out a lot.

Came highly recommended by Vinny at DeCicco's in Brewster NY. I trust Vinny, not only because he looks trustworthy, but he has yet to steer me wrong. Not cheap at $18, but I'm glad I took it on. Looks like a thick Hefe on the pour, but a thinner head. Brett plays a huge part on the nose, with it's funk and citrus. First sip is over the top orange rind, but I know this one'll be a chameleon. VERY complex. Great carbonation, with a clean astringent bite. I like it very much, although I wish it had a little more sweetness.

I read a few other reviews that claimed the smell was amazing, I do have a bit of a cold but i'm not getting much nose here. Maybe a bit of citrus, certainly nice but not particularly discernible, i'd say that other Tripel's (CBC Tripel Threat or GF Green Bullet) have a more discernible nose (just sayin').

The appearance is great very cloudy and light, farmhouse esq.

I typically care little for the "mouthfeel" category but i do think the super carbonation coming from this beer is fantastic.

The taste and my overall impression are that this is a great beer, though not indicative of the style. It reminds my of a slightly sour, kind-of-boozy farmhouse. But honestly, that's right up my alley so I think it's great.

If I hadn't paid $17 for this bomber, I might be more apt to drink it regularly. I guess it's not a regular brew anyway. Anchorage to New Hampshire is quite a trip, i wonder what it tasted like a year ago?

Big thanks goes to beermeX2 for sharing this one at a recent tasting! Served from bottle into a Mikkeller taster flute. Poured a slightly hazy golden yellow with a one finger pure white head that subsided to a minimal amount quickly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, banana, bread, fruit, and subtle alcohol. The flavor was of sweet malt, banana, fruit, wood, and very subtle alcohol. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a fairly good brew. The flavor and aroma going on in this one was very solid and enjoyable. This made this one really easy to drink. A definite must try if you get the chance!

Pours a pale golden color with some honey highlights. The pure white head is dense and short, leaves a short wall of lacing and settles into a solid ring.

The aroma is sweet and tart. Big tart apple and lemon aroma. Quite funky and tart from the brett and oak. Lots of apple cider characteristics. The brett dominates the aroma.

The taste is sweet and tart. The malt is bready and sweet with some honey notes. Not much flavor from the traditional belgian yeast. Big tart notes from the brett. Noticable oak flavors as well. Definitely funky and sour but its kept in check.

The feel is moderate with tingly carbonation. Starts off with a general sweetness but then the brett turns its sour and quite dry, astringent.

I would like to see more of a belgian flavor to this beer. This could have been any pale ale with brett added to it.

A: Slightly hazy gold body with a copious white head that leaves great lacing. 4.5/5

S: Decent citrus, huge pepper, and in your face brett character. 4/5

T: This doesn't fit my typical expectation for Tripel, but none of Fletcher's beers do fit into a defined style. I usually just rate them as their own thing anyway. Lemon specific citrus hops is the front characteristic followed by the spicy brett funk that is omnipresent in Anchorage beers. Nice vanilla essence finishes the beer off with a lingering reminder. 4/5

M: Full silky body with high carbonation to keep things fresh. Would pair well with a soft fatty cheese. 5/5

O: Another good beer from Anchorage. There's a signature to all the beers I've had from them so far that they'll be riding to the hall of fame for sure. 4/5

Enjoyed with aasher on 2/28. Poured into Aecht schlenferla snifter. Pours a golden orange with 5 fingers of white foam head, most of which recedes.

The brett immediately stands out on the nose, with butter, oak and some citrus.

Lots of lemon and orange to taste, with very strong oak character and a little bit of butter.

Very complex beer from start to finish with bright carbonation and a big oak finish

Pleasant beer that i would gladly drink again.

Bottle: Poured a hazy medium orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention. Aroma of light Brett notes with some dry hops notes and lightly sweet malt notes. Taste is a quiet complex mix between some Brett notes with light funky ester mix in with Nobel dry hops and some sweet malt with a light spicy yeast finish. Body is quite full for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with good balance and nice drinkability factor.

- Nice cloudy golden creamed corn color with fluffy big fingers of head.. leaves a very light looking spotty ring alla bout, and some thin traces over the brew.

Smell: (4.5)
- Nice sweet malt with a good biscuity touch. Fruity esters, drying Brett aromas, and light Belgian candy. Some lovely oak and chardonnay aromas are present.. very good smell.

Taste: (4.0)
- Nice crisp triple with a lovely earthy and woody flavor.. the chardonnay and brett seem to couple extremely well with one another. Some sweet sugars and esters, and a dry grassy hop flare. Super good.

Mouth Feel: (4.0)
- Medium body, great carbonation, and certainly dry from the oak, brett, and hops. I like drying cloying beers like this.. and it is a touch chewy as well. Certainly a neat beer.

Overall: (4.0)
- This is a tasty number. I would love to have more of these to age, but I found only the one. There is enough residual sugars left behind for the brett to carry on its way over time and really develop this beer into something else. It's solid now, and I bet would get even better. Certainly worth the try. Surprised I paid the same amount for this as I did the IPA. The IPA should have been less.

A: Pours a hazy straw yellow with two fingers of white head that fades into a thin cap with a little lacing.

S: Belgian spices and candy sugar up front followed by a nice, musty Brett flavor reminiscent of barnyards and a bit of funk (in a good way). There are some sweet and oaky Chardonnay notes toward the finish.

T: Belgian spices up front here as well before musty barnyard flavors kick in. Tart, fermented fruit flavors follow with an oaky Chardonnay finish that is just slightly bitter.

M: Medium-light body with carbonation on the low side of moderate, this beer is a little undercarbonated, but is smooth without being watery.

O: A very enjoyable beer overall. I love the combination of the Belgian tripel flavors/aromas with those contributed by the Brett and the Chardonnay barrels.

Batch #1 - October/2011. Poured in to Bruery tulip.

A - Slightly hazy golden orange colour. One finger of bright white head.

S - Tart, sour and some funk up front. Plenty of oak along with some lemon zest and bready malt aromas.

T - Bready malts up front with Belgian yeast and lighter clove flavours. The brett notes enter in the middle adding the perfect amount of sour and funk without dominating the beer. The finish has lemon zest and a nice dry tartness. Plenty of oak throughout.

M - Medium body with a massive chew. Creamy. Light carbonation.

Love me some Anchorage, so looking forward to this new arrival! Anchorage metal band 36 Crazyfists is one of my favorite bands, and I am sipping this while listening to the most appropriate of their albums "The Tide and it's Takers" \m/

Pours a mostly clear dark golden color with a fluffy white head of a finger or more. Nice lace and retention.

The aroma is typical Anchorage funkitude. White wine and oak with some spices and Belgian notes.

Taste of funk, hay and spicy hops. Some oak and dry wine notes, with some fruity notes and faint citrus.

Creaminess, with a nice almost effervescence. Good carbonation for the style.

Probably not my favorite Anchorage brew, but it's still great and they are without a doubt masters of the Brett craft.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

What an absolutely gorgeous looking beer from pour. Classic white rock head and uniform with plenty of staying power and tiny white bubbles slowly rising through a glowing neon body of mango tropical yellow and orange. Opaque but not cloudy (slow pour yeast left in bottle on first one). Just fantastic looking.

Nose is a good sense of brett, muting some of the floral and faint citrus character, with a good sense of dense thick malt coming for this style. I am real excited to taste this.

Bringing that brett action for a tripel seems to be unique, but blurs this into saison territory and taking away I think some of the magic. Most noticeable character is that it is a bit wet, but luckily not too watery. Palate has some definite saison character but masking much of a classic sweetness for the style. Malt sweetness is not really coming through, a classic hot pepper brett afterfinish that follows. Kind of hop forward also, but after sometime a nice tart apricot and juice quality comes out.

Overall, it's an interesting take, probably not what I look for in this favorite style of mine, but it's an incredibly well crafted beer. I expect nothing but great things from this place and they just deliver in spades.

Pours hazy gold with a dense white head that settles to a thick cap, leaving rings of lacing clinging to the glass. Wonderful aromas of yellow apple, lemon zest, light Belgian yeast, and funky Brettanomyces, all wrapped up in a lovely white grape barrel. Taste is similarly funky, with lots of earthy Brettanomyces, citrus-forward hops, ripe pear, and a solid Tripel base of banana and clove. Very nice blend of the traditional Tripel and the funk. Mouthfeel is crisp and feels surprisingly light given the 9% ABV. Body is a touch over medium, and the carbonation is ample. Overall another great Anchorage beer, keep em coming!
