Poured into my large Gulden Draak tulip, The Tide and Its Takers is clear gold with a big fluffy white head, rocky, with heavy lace.
Smell is lightly sweet fruity esters, pineapple brett, but with some earthy yeastiness as well.
Taste is very nicely integrated with all components showing, the lighter barnyard and stronger pineapple brett, the spicey, clean dry pils of the trippel and abbey yeast, and finally, the vinous notes of the barrel aging. This is a masterpiece of flavor depth and (relative) subtly.
Mouthfeel is dry, but slick, a little oily, with a medium light body and soft carbonation.
Drinkability is crazy high. A world class beer.

750ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a medium creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is brett and soft oak with some sweet malts and a little Belgian yeast.
The flavor is sweet fruity malts with oak and brett and some musty yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.
Overall, an OK beer - probably my least favorite by them. I like the brett, but it's a bit sweet and I don't think it plays well the the Belgian yeast.

Slightly hazed golden yellow with a quickly forming near-white persistent head that leaves sheets and dots of lace down the glass.
The aroma is Brett-forward, along with notes of green apple, oak, black pepper, and earth. Terrific.
The flavor follows similarly, with the funky Brett leading the way, along with oak, green apple, pepper, and white grape.No alcohol presence.
Medium to full bodied with high carbonation. Near perfect for the style and a joy to drink.
This reminds me a lot of Bitter Monk by Anchorage--good thing, because I love both beers.

Got lucky and happened to roll into Craft on a Wednesday when this had just came in. Poured the usual hazy gold with lots of brett to it, chunky white head. Even though this was 'lots' it seemed lesser when compared w/ the saison, dipa and the witbier.
Belgian yeast thankfully restrained to only the best qualities, which is not a face bracing amount of clove, instead light citrus and chardonnay barrel noise.
Taste as usual hides a high abv, thought the bretty and tart notes were on the lower side for an Anchorage release. Far better than your average belgian trippel for my palate, but the price point on these are always going to be somewhat prohibitive from becoming a regular part of any lineup.

batch 1, October 2011 bottle date
Pours a bright orange-yellow with 2 fingers of fluffy white head that remain as a thin cap even 6 hours after the initial pour (I slowly worked my way through the whole bottle in an evening.
The smell is brett funk up front lots of hay and oak with a medicinal, herbal quality to it, very "musty basement" in overall aroma. Some bright citrus notes behind that. Smells slightly lactic sour but not overwhelmingly so.
The taste is wonderfully balanced. The brett is definitely the star of the show but it is not overpowering. It is slightly bitter, with some bright citrus to balance it out, just a touch sour.
Mouthfeel is just right, light without being spritzy. The 9% is well hidden, it drinks much more like a 5% gueuze than a tripel.
Overall this is a great beer. If I had to find a fault with it, it would be that from memory I can't really tell the difference between this and the anchorage wit that I had a while back. There is nothing in this beer that screams tripel to me. With that said, if you like brettanomyces, this is like a nice complex gueuze, only not as sour.

A: Glowing and muddied orange with a medium sized tight white frothy head.
S: Stinky fermented fruits such as raspberry, cranberry, orange and apple over farm fresh grains and flowers with a tangy lemon punch. Tea aromas as well. Very interesting and enjoyable for sniffing.
T: The first thing I notice upon tasting are the implosively soft, unexpected and unusual characteristics of this beer. And WTF? This is 9%??? Also quite unexpected... So more on flavor: This beer has a lot of various bright fruity flavors...Apple, lemon, numerous berries, and even cantaloupe. The white wine works its way in very well too. There's also a dry woodiness. All these flavors combine together very smoothly. There's a lot of indefinable depth yet somehow this is light and refreshing. Not sure how that is possible... Sweet, sour, spicy, bright, 'barnyardy' and colorful.
M: Full body when you observe it, but it wants you to think light-medium. A hint of alcohol warmth when you sip this yet still very drinkable.

Apparently a collaboration between Anchorage and Dogfish Head, although the Dogfish Head name is hardly made visible on the bottle print. Batch #1, Oct/2011.
A natural, unfiltered looking beer, kinda raw in appearance: super hazy/cloudy pale dirty yellow/gold with a foamy head that leaves gobs of lace on the glass.
Aroma gives off more Chardonnay than tripel, and a whole lot more Brett-y funk than either Chardonnay or tripel. A bit of wood nudges in. Nice fruity layer in the nose, like sniffing a cup of thick, combined, just-squeezed pear and peach nectar.
The spiciness of a tripel comes into the taste, and the Belgian yeast character (Brett, of course) is as assertive on tongue as in the nose. This mingles with the aforementioned pear/peach juice, Chardonnay, and wood. A bit of a green, leafy hop vibe too, and lemon peel. Fragrant, perfume-y, floral vibe overall. Huge waves of Chardonnay coat the mouth in the finish, mingling nicely with lemony hops.
There's such activity and complexity in the taste, I hardly even noticed the feel and probably wouldn't have cared if not reviewing. I mean, it's quite fine, achieving a great balance between fizzy tickle and smooth buttery texture, with the latter winning out just a tad...apparently every aspect of this beer is a winner.
I don't want to see Anchorage back themselves into a corner with all these triple-fermented, white wine barrel-aged beers...except these beers have been incredible so far, so if they turn into a Jolly Pumpkin type brewer (variations on a theme) then hey, no complaints from me. I've recently been won over by several Chardonnays, after not thinking I was ever going to acquire the taste for wine, so this is a real treat, considering big beers are my thing and the tripel is among my favorite styles. So if you're a beer drinker of similar mindset, you're going to want to try this, pronto. As with all the Anchorage stuff. Wow, best newcomer of the last several years, I think...

Golden slightly cloudy body with lots of lace. Funky and spicy, a little wood and tart fruit. Nice triple,white winish, not getting much Brett flavour or impact. Above normal mouthfeel. John's bottle that was drunk in a hurry this hot summer's day.
