Got this from a friend in Vermont.

Right from the start the smell of the cork has me very interested. That sour smell is very nice, one of my many favorite things about this beer.

Light color, looks like a tripel.

It smells more sour than it is. The taste has a lot going on. Very herbal, with a hint of sourness (brett) and then some oakiness from the barrel, and the alcohol taste is present as well.

Awesome warm feeling after drinking just one glass of this beer. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try an Anchorage Brewing beer, I look forward to trying more from them.

A: Pours a perfectly hazed deep orange color. A two finger white head forms with excellent retention. Sticky lace coats the glass.
S: At first, orange peal, lemon grass, spicy phenols and light funk. A grape sweetness takes over after that with a soft wood/oak aroma.
T: Spicy phenols, light funk, citrus peal and lemon flavors. A grape sweetness that is very nice. Wood flavors, though in the background.
M/D: A medium body that is very effervescent. Very crisp and refreshing. A great body that screams take more sips. So easy and enjoyable to drink. A great sipper, and the bottle will be gone in no time.

The Brett and wood barrel are not that apparent, but very balanced. Grapes seem to make a strong presence in the finish, which is very nice. Really enjoyable and highly recommended.

First beer from this brewery that I've seen in Vermont.

Pours a nice golden yellow color with a two-finger head that leaves a bit of lacing.

Funky brett says "howdy" with a mix of spicy yeast and citrus. Intriguing. I haven't seen too many saisons with brett.

Apple, grape and citrus mingle within a spicy background. Instead of a standard saison, you get something that's more potent and interesting.

Ditto on the mouthfeel.

Very interesting example of the style. I would recommend that you check it out.

750 C&C split with Evan yesterday, 6/8/2013 in snifters. Going off memory here until I get to try this one again.

Aroma: Mostly farmhouse- a bit of sweet lemon along with a nice dose of funk; or whatever it is that I get from Brett beers. There's a lot of the funk for sure. A bit of tartness. (4.25)

Colour: Hazy golden body with a good bit of thick white head that sticks around for a good while, lacing is very nice and thick. (4.25)

Flavour: Lotta funk in this one. I really like it. A decent bit of citrus, like orange and lemon zest, but mostly covered up by the funk. It tastes great, not supremely complex but definitely brings some interesting stuff to the glass. (4.25)

Mouthfeel: Creamy, full bodied tripel that is very well carbonated and finishes nicely without much dryness. Refreshing and tasty. The aftertaste is rather tart without being too super sour. Nice! (4.5)

Overall: Definitely a tasty Brett beer, funky and refreshing. I've passed this over at the store a lot and I'll be sure to get one if I see it on the shelves again. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a nice dose of Brett. (4.25)

Poured from the 750 into a stemmed tulip.
Pours a clear medium straw color with one finger of head.
Aromas are twangy brett funk with wine quite present.
Taste is very much in line with aromas. Good brett flavor, tart and lots of oak and chardonnay.
Finishes dry and clean.
Overall, this beer is very flavorful. It's complex and it's quenching. I love brett's and I loved this beer.

Bottle purchased from K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City, CA. In fact, this is now available in Sydney, but I'm pleased to have carted it back to Australia myself. Shared with @tobeerornottobe and @LaitueGonflable.

Pours a mild, slightly hazed golden colour, with a magnificent crown of pure white, shiny froth. Lacing is spectacularly intricate. Body is solid, but pleasingly fluid. Carbonation strikes out with vigour through the body, but it's surprisingly fine throughout. Overall, good looking beer.

Nose is obviously bretty, as are all Anchorage's brews, but here there's a more rounded, slightly fruity straight Belgian yeast note to it. This melds with a surprising but pleasant earthy grain character that lends a touch of savoury to the brew. Almost has a hint of smoky barbeque to it in a strangely oblique way. Overall, very nice stuff indeed.

Taste is lighter, but with a direct, slightly biting fruit to it, almost like a capsicum sweetness. Plenty of smooth oak here on the palate, definitely giving some chardonnay characteristics. There's a bit of astringency on the back, partially from acidity and partially just from the straight Belgian yeast strain (which I assume was used in concert). It's very nice stuff. Feel is particularly good. Smooth, but unobtrusive. Great stuff.

Yup, another masterful addition from Anchorage to their already masterful range. The chardonnay I thought was subtle, but it turns out to be the defining factor of this beer the more you drink. It's a very interesting result.

A - Pours a light cloudy orange with an airy white fluffy head.

S - Typical tripel aroma. Slightly funky yeast, accompanied by stonefruit and sour rockmelon.

T - A touch of acidity and sourness, with the fruit and yeast that are prominent. Peppery finish.

M - Light body, plenty of flavour and lip smacking tang. Good complexity.

O - Kind of a hybrid sour- tripel, but really good and exceptionally refreshing.

750 ml bottle poured into a tulip. $13 I think.

A: Hazily golden. Generous head with big, soapy bubbles. Very promising.

S: Brett party. A little citrus, maybe lemon, but the Brett is in charge in the aroma department.

T: Tart, funky, and fruity, though again, the fruit is subdued in favor of the Brett, as are any readily discernible triple characteristics. Maybe the yeast holds back some flavors that are hidden in here, but if you're a Bretthead, this is for you.

M: Soft and gentle on the palate. Quite dry. Very warming.

O: Quenching, refreshing, and totally perfect on a late spring night. The only thing preventing even higher scores from this reviewer is that it wasn't the most "complex" drinking experience, with the yeast asserting itself so dominantly. That said, it tastes great. A treat, and not my last time.

I read a few other reviews that claimed the smell was amazing, I do have a bit of a cold but i'm not getting much nose here. Maybe a bit of citrus, certainly nice but not particularly discernible, i'd say that other Tripel's (CBC Tripel Threat or GF Green Bullet) have a more discernible nose (just sayin').

The appearance is great very cloudy and light, farmhouse esq.

I typically care little for the "mouthfeel" category but i do think the super carbonation coming from this beer is fantastic.

The taste and my overall impression are that this is a great beer, though not indicative of the style. It reminds my of a slightly sour, kind-of-boozy farmhouse. But honestly, that's right up my alley so I think it's great.

If I hadn't paid $17 for this bomber, I might be more apt to drink it regularly. I guess it's not a regular brew anyway. Anchorage to New Hampshire is quite a trip, i wonder what it tasted like a year ago?

A: Pours a hazy straw yellow with two fingers of white head that fades into a thin cap with a little lacing.

S: Belgian spices and candy sugar up front followed by a nice, musty Brett flavor reminiscent of barnyards and a bit of funk (in a good way). There are some sweet and oaky Chardonnay notes toward the finish.

T: Belgian spices up front here as well before musty barnyard flavors kick in. Tart, fermented fruit flavors follow with an oaky Chardonnay finish that is just slightly bitter.

M: Medium-light body with carbonation on the low side of moderate, this beer is a little undercarbonated, but is smooth without being watery.

O: A very enjoyable beer overall. I love the combination of the Belgian tripel flavors/aromas with those contributed by the Brett and the Chardonnay barrels.

Batch 2, Nov 2012 bottle date. Another step on my quest to try all the Anchorage beers.

Pours a golden yellow/orange with a bit of haze, decent fluffy head that doesn't leave much lacing.

Pils malt sweetness up front, with lots of strong musty and fruity funk. Peppercorns, orange, peach, apricot, pear, sage, herbal spice, cheese, a bit medicinal and hints of alcohol.

Wow, much more complex than I was expecting - pils malt is balanced out by good acidity, both acetic and lactic but not distracting in any way. A bit of honey sweetness then yeasty esters, herbal spice, clove, peppercorns, sage, spicy and lemony hops in the after taste with a decent amount of warming and some vanilla/caramel in the finish.

Mouth is solid despite all the Brett going on. Lasting enough to leave an impression but with soft carbonation that doesn't feel too sticky.

Not usually a huge fan of tripels but this one really hit the spot due to the earthy funk and tartness keeping the sweetness/alcohol in check. Feels satisfying and paired well with food (stuffed bell peppers in this case.)

Anchorage Brewing, when did you get on the shelves in Indiana? And why was this bottle $16?! Well, if what I hear about this brewery is true, this expensive tripel may just be tasty enough to justify the price tag.

Brewed seven months before the date of this tasting (Batch #1, OCT/2011).

A: As soon as I try to pull the cork out, OH GOD! It pops with the force of a cannon blast. As expected, there’s a lot of carbonation – lots of soapy foam, getting up to three inches of creamy, off-white intensity. Silky webs of lacing and weightless retention keeps this one looking excellent for a while. The color is pale, straw gold, shining in the light but a bit dim and hazy otherwise.

S: A nose of moderate strength, mainly herbal notes combined with a bright, complex hoppiness. Aromas of key lime pie, clove, spicy pepper, daisies, and soft, lemony bitters. It’s played up by the yeast, vanilla, fresh sugary pastries, and light coriander esters. Quite unique, and pleasing as ever.

T: An aggressive brett presence – barnyard funk and lactic acid, with herbal, dry white wine tendencies. A leafy hop note crystallizes the yeast with a bright feeling of complex herbs, mainly lemon zest, tannic grapes, pine wood, citrus rind, and pepper. What a delicious palate…I absolutely love it. Lemon-juice-meets-vanilla comes in, reminding me of some sort of lemon cream pie (as the label suggests), though bubblegum and big, chalky berry tastes are still apparent. Aftertaste is made of a green hop bitterness and some sugary grain tastes, more straw than syrup.

M: The fizz makes its statement, that’s for sure…it’s a very foamy feel, especially in the finish, evocative of meringue or something slightly thicker. You can’t really chew it, but the carbonation is definitely textured like thick foam.

O: I am now officially excited about what Anchorage Brewing has to offer – and I’m certainly glad I bought their White IPA when I had the chance. After further inspection, it looks like this had something to do with Dogfish Head, as Sam Calagione’s name and signature are on the label. Makes sense…this beer’s astounding, a record Dogfish Head is not unfamiliar with.

Bottle purchased at the Hill Farmstead retail shop. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a crystal clear golden pineapple juice like hue with a massive FOUR finger rocky head with a TON of effervescence. Like, too much bubbles man.

S - Very nice soft banana and belgian spice notes with this with a VERY faint brett.

T - Taste is quite nice as well. Good belgian yeast esters with nice light spices and more of the subtle brett. Its a good tripel, but, I'd like to see more funky/brett like I'm used to getting with Anchorage.

M - Mouthfeel isnt bad, WAAAY too carbonated at first, but it dies down quickly. Very, very light alcohol presence.

O - Overall this is a solid beer, not my favourite from Anchorage though. Used to alot more brett with my Anchorage beers

Poured a deep, glowing orange with two fingers of bright white head. Aroma of lemon, caramel, biscuit, and pepper.

Moderate-to-lowish carbonation and a thick, full mouthfeel. Lemon and pepper up front followed by doughy caramel, oak, a trace of hay, and some tartness on the long finish.

Another great beer from Anchorage, although this one is a little less flashy than some of their others. Drinks much easier than 9 percent, which was well-hidden.

Slightly hazed golden yellow with a quickly forming near-white persistent head that leaves sheets and dots of lace down the glass.

The aroma is Brett-forward, along with notes of green apple, oak, black pepper, and earth. Terrific.

The flavor follows similarly, with the funky Brett leading the way, along with oak, green apple, pepper, and white grape.No alcohol presence.

Medium to full bodied with high carbonation. Near perfect for the style and a joy to drink.

This reminds me a lot of Bitter Monk by Anchorage--good thing, because I love both beers.

This was a shockingly good beer, far surpassing my expectations. The Brett complemented rather traditional Tripel flavors - Belgian yeast, candi sugar, and citrus hops - remarkably well. It actually comes across a bit like a cross between Orval and Westmalle Tripel.

This is certainly not a traditional Tripel, but it is a remarkable brew.

Batch #1, bottled October 2011.

Beer is a hazy golden with a large white head.

Brett is the most immediate scent, funky horse blanket along with a bit of cherry. A bunch of light fruit scents accompany that: lemon, green grape and perhaps peach. A bit of oak, but it is low down. Nice scent.

Taste is similar to the nose and is very good. Brett is obvious but not overpowering, adding a nice funky side to the more expected tripel flavours. White pepper sticks out, along with lemon, apple and green grape. Like the nose, the oak is restrained but present. When considering the fact that this was aged in chardonnay barrels, it does come across as having some similarities to a white wine, but I would not have picked that out without the suggestion. Quite dry as a result of the brett. Very good.

Full bodied, moderately carbonated. Active without irritation. Slightly astringent.

Overall, very good. A nice twist on the tripel style. I had been looking for this one for awhile and, while I spent too much for it, I am glad I got to try it.

Victory tulip

A: Hazy bright yellow orange color. Full finger of bright white head. Sheets of lacing. Nice bottle carbed brew.

S: Nice Brett forward nose here. Smells funky. Also get nice vinous notes. The hops are there too adding some interesting fruit character. Lemon. Crisp citrus.

T: Up front you get some hop character from the Sorachi Ace. Then that vinous hints. There is some sweetness, but not the traditional banana and clove flavors. There are some oak notes and rounding during sip. Love the funky character. Crisp refreshing finish. Doesn't taste like 9% unless you drink whole bottle :).

M: Medium bodied. Clean.

A: hazy gold beer body with a finger or two of ivory froth - poured slowly on first drink to keep yeast out; drank from my Duvel tulip

S: some of the dankness of the brett, some brighter grassier notes; little bit of wood and oak

T: an interesting beer - barrel aging has imparted a wine-like flavor over a lot of the beer-ier notes of the musky brett and orchard fruits; leans toward dry, not sweet - I must confess I personally prefer a little more sweetness in a tripel

M: medium-to-heavy body; brisk carbonation; slight coating aftertaste - the brett effect; a little tart/tacky; crisper astringency than most of the tripels I've had

O: this is unique among tripels - I've had the bourbon barrel-aged tripel, the sweet fruity tripel, the tripel brewed with rice, etc. - but it seems the combination of brettanomyces yeast and barrel-aging produces a very distinct beer, which reminded me of an American wild ale blended with a Belgian strong pale ale - this was a rugged beer. You have to try it - but how you'll feel about the chardonnay barrel flavors with the brett influence is probably a matter of taste. I liked it, and while partial to the Curieux-, Karmeliet-, and Westmalle-style tripels, this beer definitely has an elegance of its own.

A- pours a cloudy straw yellow color with lots of carbonation a very fresh 2 finger head and great lacing on glass

S-floral citrus with spice, wine and wood chips, lemonbread

T- superb it was crisp with a lemon meringue hops start followed by some brett, a dry white wine middle nice spicy floral finish a wood flavor lingers

M- nicely carbonated tart and hoppy

O- a different take on a tripel but its an outstanding brew another great one from Anchorage

Pours hazy gold with a dense white head that settles to a thick cap, leaving rings of lacing clinging to the glass. Wonderful aromas of yellow apple, lemon zest, light Belgian yeast, and funky Brettanomyces, all wrapped up in a lovely white grape barrel. Taste is similarly funky, with lots of earthy Brettanomyces, citrus-forward hops, ripe pear, and a solid Tripel base of banana and clove. Very nice blend of the traditional Tripel and the funk. Mouthfeel is crisp and feels surprisingly light given the 9% ABV. Body is a touch over medium, and the carbonation is ample. Overall another great Anchorage beer, keep em coming!

22oz. bottle poured into tulip.

I get a little bit of a citrusy tripel at first, and then the mellow, chard oak comes in. But the finish is quite interesting; a tingling peppery-ness swirls in and leaves with a bit of dry finish. This is definitely a different take on the tripel that I quite enjoyed.

Pours a hazy, pale golden orange color with a one finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Decent retention with streaks of soapy lacing left behind.

The aroma of this beer is pretty complex with hints of earthy hops, sweet citrus, oak barrel and funky wild yeast notes bouncing off of each other. The barrel presence is prominent with toasted oak, vanilla, spice and white wine notes followed by vinous and tropical fruit, resinous pine and musty funk. As it warms, the wild yeast comes to the forefront with musty brett and a subtle lactic character that compliments the hop profile. The Chardonnay/white wine notes are also pretty strong with grape must and other light fruit notes. This slightly overpowers the hop profile but there are still hints of pine needle and tropical fruit.

On the fuller end of medium bodied with soft carbonation and a prominent barrel presence that adds complexity without interfering with the hops and wild yeast notes. Some charred oak along with vanilla and buttery white wine flavor which is countered by a dry, bitter pine presence and a strong, musty brett character. The wild yeast provides some dry, earthy funk that compliments the resinous hop flavor and gives balance to the tropical and vinous fruit sweetness. Underneath the barrel and wild yeast, there are hints of citrus peel, apple, pear and alcohol but the high ABV is well masked making this complex beer pretty quaffable. There is a lot going on here but the wine barrel, earthy hops and funky yeast notes are almost perfectly balanced resulting in another excellent beer from this brewery.

Pours light grain yellow with brilliant clarity and a solid quilt of bone whites. Smells really nice with lemons, pineapple, grain, clay, a little green olive juice. Flavor doesn't disappoint - nice bitterness, some grass, some almost teatree oil and leather with a bit of metal. Thin bodied with hi carb and a wet finish. Nice beer.

brilliantly conceived collaboration from anchorage and dogfish head, given generously to me by a new friend. sorachi ace hopped triple in chardonnay barrels with brett, how perfect. the pour is hazy yellow, pale without much luster but a masive fizzy white head that hangs on for quite some time. the nose is really oaky and acidic from the wine, and a year has helped the brett do its magic, lots of funk here. the sorachi hops arent as prominent as i would like them to be, but i get the lemon without the bitter. taste is more balanced, but the wine still makes a big impact. wheat malt and maybe oats, this is the best of all three fermentation worlds, complexity is ripe. distinctly belgina in nature, but nuanced in a remarkable way. the hops finish beautifully with the brett, and while i have to imagine they have faded some, the balance found here is divine. finish is long too, zesty, funky, and memorable. beautiful carbonation and a lightness rare for its abv. i could drink this everyday, its like nothing else, a gorgeous combination of flavors and techniques here, a real work of craftsmanship.
