Poured a very light straw yellow with a big and sticky white head.

The smell was more Brett and musty than the Galaxy itself with some very light citrus notes sneaking through.

The flavor was a touch tart with bits of oak, citrus, and light tropical fruits all coming through, but overall very mild. The sour and musty brett flavors along with the oak really mask the hops. There is a very mild amount of bitterness.

The mouthfeel was very dry and clean.

A good beer, drinks more like a nice Berliner Weiss than Belgian IPA, but seems almost like a waste to use Galaxy in such a minor starring role.

Bottle purchased at Craft Beer Cellar in Waterbury, VT.

Pours a hazy light yellow, with a little bit of lacing coming from a 1.5 inch fluffy head.

Smells like delicious Galaxy hops- passionfruit and orange, a bit of grapefruit, and some distinct Brett barnyard funk.

This tastes delicious. It doesn't really scream white IPA to me- not really getting the peppercorns. I am getting a varied fruit flavor which could include Kumquats- if I knew what they tasted like. Getting lots of passionfruit, orange, and grapefruit, with some chalky sweet tarts flavors, barnyard funk, and crackery malt.

The body on this one is of light to medium thickness, with a lower amount of carbonation, and a crisp mouthfeel.

Probably the best white IPA i've ever had, although I would have just identified it as an American IPA with Brett.

This has a huge, incredibly distinct, hoppily fruity aroma to it as I pour this beer into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip. The beer forms a large, five-finger thick, pale head. The beer is a deep gold color and shows a brilliantly clear, yellow-gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma has an intense fruitiness to it that is a mix of Juicy Fruit bubblegum, super floral honey, concentrated tangelo blossoms, apricot, huge lychee, kumquat zest and perhaps even some Guava. The hop fruit character is what dominates the aroma, but towards the finish, and in a much more subtle manner there is a sort of dusty, or perhaps even more musty, sort of “cob-web” like and slightly medicinal Brettanomyces signature; This still is quite subtle, and has a long way towards adding character to this beer (a good reason to age a couple bottles perhaps). As the beer warms up it gets more spicy, quite a bit more funky and just that much more complex

The beer is quite dry, in fact exceedingly dry for an IPA even, but this really isn’t an IPA. The dryness certainly reduces the hop fruitiness substantially in the flavor, but there is still an oral nasal, floral fruitiness that just can’t be completely held in check. The finish has a medicinal, sort of aspirin like, almost mineral like note that seems to be brought out by a combination of the hop character and the Brettanomyces influence. The finish has a bitterness to it (in actuality the entire flavor profile has a certain level of biting bitterness), though this isn’t a super bitter beer, and this combines with a biting note from the Brettanomyces phenolics and perhaps even some astringent green hop character. There is definitely an herbal character to the flavor that wasn’t noticeable in the aroma (again the dryness of this beer brings this out); it reminds me of tobacco, some pine, perhaps of something menthol like, none of these are really distinct in and of themselves though, perhaps it is better described as a peppery, spicy herbal character. This beer is quite light bodied, as one would expect, it is quite quaffable, even dangerously so given the beers strength.

The problem with beers like this, incredibly hoppy / citrusy but bone dry, is that much of the juicy citrus character is lost in the flavor due to the dryness. This beer is a testament to the wonders of Indian coriander, it doesn’t have that dirty herbal character that western coriander does and it really integrates very nicely with the kumquat and Galaxy hops; interestingly enough, I hadn’t realized that coriander and kumquats were used here; I wholly attributed their flavor contributions to the hops, but now having read the label they most definitely contribute. The pepper to adds a nice spiciness to this brew that was again mistaken for hop character. Back to the problem, without the residual malt sweetness that even supports the driest of the usual IPAs, this beer has lost the juicy citrus character that would be otherwise be noticeable in the flavor. While I have compared this a lot to an IPA, it is clearly not one, given the interpretive take the style can have, I would say this fits into the Saison category (at least better than it fits anywhere else). Since I do love hoppy and I do love Saisons, this beer is right up my alley; exceedingly enjoyable and I doubt I will be able to hold on to my second bottle long enough to allow the Brettanomyces presence to increase much.

Popped the cork of 22 oz bottle & poured into my Russian River stemmed glass. Foamy head explodes filling the glass in spite of a very careful pour.
Head retains very well with nice lace as head gradually recedes.
Golden color.
First impression is of a typical Belgian IPA but then the nuances take over challenging the senses. Sweetness, spiciness, sour notes make for a very enjoyable experience.
A great sipping beer so bold I couldn't finish the bottle at one sitting. Rebottled into a swing-top bottle to finish at a later time.
I love a good Belgian IPA - quickly becoming one of my favorite styles and this didn't disappoint.

750 ml bottle. Pours bubbly hazy bright yellow with a huge bubbly white head that grows in the glass and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is spices, soapy floral notes and brett.

The flavor is sweet wheaty malts and sweet honey fruitiness with floral hops and peppery spices that leaves some good bitterness in the finish. The brett is a bit subdued. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Overall, an interesting well done beer. One of the better Belgian IPAs I've had. I still don't really love the blend of Belgian yeast and the hops - maybe fruitier hops would be better for me. I'd also like more Brett out of this one.

The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma if full of brett, with some orange notes as well as some bread from the malt. The flavor is similar. I get a ton of brett and orange citrus notes, with a little bit of bread and biscuit malt. There is also a nice yeasty component to the flavor and a low amount of hop bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Glad I got to try this one.

A very pretty, slightly hazed, light yellow and golden with a two-finger high near-white head that lasts and lasts. This eventually leaves irregular rings of lace down the glass.

Complete aroma with bright, floral hops, Brett yeast, grass, hay, lemon, and a bit of pepper.

The flavor is just as good as the aroma, with a surprising level of bitterness complementing the funky Brett yeast, sweet fruit notes, earth, hay, and grass. I like this a lot, though it's not quite as complex as some similar beers.

Medium bodied with a high level of carbonation.

This beer is better than the sum of it's parts. It's delicate, interesting, well balanced, and incredibly enjoyable to drink.

Since all the other pricey Anchorage options have been quite good, I decided to splurge and pick up a bottle of this.

Pours the usual cloudy haze, yellow appearance, substantial 1.8" white head. Looks good. Aroma, didn't have the same pungency of Bitter Monk unfortunately. Leaned more wit, then belgian, and only then ipa (last). Aroma of wood/oak, white wine, kindofa bretty aroma.

Taste, chalky bretty, spice, coriander, mild citrus notes. Lacked the hops and bitterness of bitter monk. This was more like a wit straight up. It also lacked the tartness/sourness and acidity that I was hoping for. If I was in charge, this would have more hop character, and less belgian wit character. Alcohol seemed higher than their other beers that are actually higher in alcohol content. A little bit of grassyness to it as well. I dunno, I think they should drop the 'ipa' reference on the label. A decent beer, but nowhere near as good as the Bitter Monk, for many reasons.

Part of this beer's description makes it seem, at base, to be a hoppy sort of wit; with the coriander, spices, and Belgian yeast, perhaps the hops make the difference. It looks, in any case, like a classic wit: light gold, somehow simultaneously bright and cloudy, with a fluffy pure white head. That head rises high and strong, making a beautifully rocky and densely pillowy crown that lasts, fades to a thick 1/2 finger, and leaves chunks and heavy patches of lacing. Full retention and very slightly more lacing are the only barriers to a higher score.
The nose is brilliant, mending vinous, citrus and tropical fruits with a raw, leafy bitterness along with vinous notes and a touch of pepper. The Brett comes through in such a way as to show off the funk without interference in the overall profile. Belgian yeast adds just a ghost of earthiness and more light pepper, but like raw green buds before maturation.
The taste is very nice, mingling the same notes with the exception that the funk isn't really drawn out until this beer has warmed a bit. The vinous dryness and pith pull into the finish, but the fruitier elements keep it from going particularly dry. There is a noticeable, though faint and ghostly, note of band-aid.
The feel is crisp and smooth mingling together for a nice flow in a fairly light-bodied brew.
While it seems like a lot thrown together coming into it, brewing expertise is showcased in that these guys can do so much without making it a muddled mes, and blending it all together so well. I hope they come out with more.

Lots of bottle variability on this one. I've had a few gushers with corks hitting the ceiling and two totally flat nearly undrinkable bottles. This beer is good but I would avoid aging or buying old bottles.

750ml caged and corked, silk-screened (very Stone-esque) bottle, Batch #2, April 2012. Today is the day, every year since I started doing this, that I mark America's Repeal Day, by busting out the biggest, baddest, or weirdest Yankee-made brew that I've obtained over the past year. And, for some reason I think this qualifies - though I'll have to stuff the 'south of the 49th parallel' references this time. Oh well - to the drink!

This beer pours a very, very, very pale (quite justifying the 'white' in the descriptor) cloudy yellow straw colour, with four fingers of roiling, aggressively foamy, thin white head, which leaves some streaky clouds of fuzzy lace around the glass as it slowly recedes. Looks exactly like recently inoculated white wine must.

It smells of mildly funky Belgian yeast, tart, acidic citrus pith, earthy coriander, fleshy tropical fruit, softly tannic barrel wood, and thin, sharp white wine. The taste is edgy pale grain, a hay-like funkiness, softly sweet musty fruit, fermenting white grape on lees, sour lemon peel, a further bitter grassy hoppiness, and some loitering astringent wood notes. The 7% ABV is not at all noticeable, so bully for that.

The bubbles are tiny, and damned-near weaponized - they have obviously attained a huge case of pent-up, hostile cabin fever in their time since bottling - it was actually hard to get the first few sips down. After acclimatization and/or burn off, the body seems to be a rather slim, barely smooth light weight, with that carbonic frothiness just a tad too distracting. It finishes pretty dry, the yeast, grain, hops, and wood tugging mightily in that direction.

One complex beast of a Belgian-style IPA, with the overall effect well-skewed to the former - the fruit, yeast, and funk generally subsuming the hops in their tidy little cabal. Maybe it's the Galaxy hops, which I have yet to find worthy of providing a big IPA experience, but here, they're probably an unfair patsy, as there is just so much else going on, in a crazily, somehow balanced manner. A rather enjoyable tipple, and worthy of its entry into my little Boardwalk Empire-enhanced Volstead Act flight of fancy.

Probably the loudest pop from a cork I've heard. Soft pour yields a three inch white merengue head. Pale lemon yellow in color and lacing sticks all over.

Smells so farmhouse fresh saison style-definite coriander and pepper spice. Funk, yeasty and lemon zest.

This sucker is dry ie. tongue sticks to roof of the mouth. Getting the funk and pepper. Hops and lemon peel. Can't really pick up on the French oaked wine tank. No sweetness at all.

Heavy brew with a lot of carbonation. Not exactly a refreshing craft.

I'm not digging on peppercorns in my beer and/or this seemed to have a pretty heavy dose of such. Smells lighter than it tastes. If you find yourself loving this, try Poivre Noir from Pipeworks. Wish this was more refreshing-bummer.

A- Hazy gold with a half finger white head. Light lacing in the glass.

S- Brett and lemon verbena. Pleasant and fragrant.

T- Loads of apple, peach and citrus flavors on the mid palate. A bit of melon on the finish. Layered and complex.

M- Creamy and refined with excellent lift despite the powerful body hiding behind all that fruit. Snappy hops accentuate the finish.

O- A well crafted, classy beer. The fruit and yeast balance Each other out and the hops blend nicely as well. Anchorage continues to be one to watch.

Bottle from recent Vermont and Maine trip. Medium golden with enormous head that lasts and lasts. Funky almost stinky aroma, yeah its Brett. Bottled in June. The IPA is subordinate completely to everything else going on, some pepper and wheat. Soft mouthfeel.For me very drinkable with supper.

Pours a very (very) pale gold with a snow-white head. Looks just about perfect. Head gets nice and comfy and sticks around for awhile, whiting out most of my glass with thick lacings.

Unbelievably fresh zingy aroma. Big hit of lemon zest and coriander complimented by mild fund and lively yeast. Just beautiful.

Sharp bitterness up front. Settles to some lovely fruit flavours, mango comes to mind, though I'm guessing if I had ever eaten a cumquat that would be more apt. Bitterness kicks up again near the finish, just to let you know its there. Dry finish and all yeast and restrained funk.

Wasn't sure what to think of this one at first, but a few sips in and I was really digging it. IPA is a bit of a misnomer here, this is sort of an Imperial Wild Wit or something like that. Seek this one out.

This is a really nice, very complex, highly drinkable offering from a solid brewery. This beer is truly impressive. Each sip revealed a new flavor. This beer was so intricate that I know this review won't do it justice. It is definitely worth a try.

Poured from the corked and caged bottle into a snifter. Body is a pale, hazy golden-white color topped by a huge, egg white head that slowly recedes to a thin coating. Aroma of mild wheat, citrus, and sharply floral spices--primarily coriander. Palate is a complex blend of citrus peel, dry wine yeast, light wheat, and a melange of spices. Finish is very zesty and sharply astringent. Body is lively and light, with a tangy, dry finish. This is a thoroughly interesting beer that has held up well after a few months of aging.

2 finger foamy white head with good retention. Beer is a semi-clear pale lemon. Patchy lace with good stick. Nice.

Brett, cane sugar, citrus hoppiness, lemon rind. Aromatic. Really delicious.

Cane sugar, citrus and pine hoppiness. Brett is detectable and complements the hop profile nicely. Finishes filmy with a strong, detectable coriander spice. Tasty.

Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Really nice and drinkable. Refreshing. Spot on for the style.

This beer's definitely a pleasant surprise. An IPA with the malt balance of a wheat beer and every bit as drinkable as the two styles.

I've been looking forward to trying this. Bomber poured into a dogfish head pint glass. Frothy 2 finger head lasts a while. The head resembles that of a saison. Nice straw yellow color. Solid carbonation.

Smells funky as hell. Straight barnyard. Nice citrus scent as well, lemon and grapefruit. Oh man this is gonna be good.

What a taste explosion. Not so funky, but huge hits of lemon and the bitterness of grapefruit but without the flavor really. A bit of a chardonnay hit, and then the hops come through. The glorious galaxy hops come through and gently harass the taste buds. The funkiness of the brett comes through in the background..noticeably there, but not nearly overwhelming. Amazing complexity all around.

A decent amount of carbonation in the mouth, but not too much. Very silky and goes down easy.

Overall this beer lives up to the hype. As a monster hophead myself, I like the overall balance of the beer to bring the galaxy forward, but still maintain the 'white' aspect and add a slight funkiness to the mix. I wish this was cheaper and available all the time. If it was $9 I'd buy it all the time. Definitely worth the money for a beer as unique as this one.

Appearance: slightly cloudy. Golden. Persistent white head.

Smell: Yeast. Floral.

Taste: more wheat beer than IPA. Taste is good, but an IPA?

Mouthfeel: lots of carbonation for a bottle aged beer. Quite thin on the palate.

Overall: a tasty beer. A Belgian style wheat beer. Not so much of an IPA.

A: Hay, lemon-meringue hue with a sudsy head and good lacing

S: The yeast and the hops make some crazy aromas: grass, pepper, lemon, weeds, dandelion, flowers, apples, other citrus fruits--man, this smells spectacular

T: Slightly dry up front with loads of citrus, grass, flowers, pepper; not quite as crazy and complex as the aromas hinted but still quite tasty

F: Creamy, medium body

O: A complex, strange beer but so thoroughly enjoyable

A - clear pale golden, and has that impressive yet annoying Belgian quality of being so carbonated that the first pour results in a tower of head that takes up half the glass
S - a strange mix of aromas including florals, sour peach, herbs & spices, and a bit of a strange rubbery smell
T - the coriander and pepper are prominent along with a strange sour tropical fruity flavour that I'm guessing is kumquat according to the bottle, yeasty easters and florals towards the finish, but still a strange rubber like thing is in the background
M - light with over the top carbonation that is fairly prickly, finishes slightly dry
O - this one is tough to decipher, in some ways its unfocussed and busy, but I think most of the flavours do jive well enough to create a unique brew within this burgeoning style, may not be for everyone but you have to try it to make that call

Bright orange and hazy color. The head is extremely thick, tall, and frothy. Great retention.

The smell is lemon, the funky barnyard/horseblanket scent that is brett, and citrus.

It's an extremely interesting beer. The cirtrus notes and lemon compliment the funk of the brett. There's a peppery finish.

Mouthfeel is clean with good carbonation. Slightly sweet yet bitter.

This is a fantastic beer with plus points for being highly original. A definite must try.

Had as a part of a free tasting held at GBX! Served from bottle into a sampler shaker. Poured a pale yellow with a three finger white head that subsided to one finger very slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, spice, coriander, funk, earth, fruit, and wheat. The flavor was of sweet malt, earth, funk, fruit, wheat, and spice. It had a light feel on the palate with very high carbonation. Overall this was a good brew. I really like the level of complexity that the Brett addition to the bottle added to this brew. This was a fairly light IPA as the name would imply, so the nice kiss of funkiness went really well here. Anchorage is definitely doing good things and I can't wait to try more offerings from them that I have not tried yet.
