Hi Hat Lounge is actually a two part bar that is connected to The Garage. Hi Hat is certainly the classier of the two and carries a bit of a pretentious vibe. It is pretty laid back, but it's one of those bars that has bartenders wearing vests / ties and pouring old school cocktails.

Their service tends to be on the slower side and I've had problems with this every time I've been there (3-4 times). However, their servers are all very courteous.

They have a pretty solid menu and drink selection. They're serving up regional brews and classic cocktails with a twist.

The food has been great every time I've been, but it's a bit more expensive than expected (an order of fries is $7) at a bar.

Unique space with plenty of room to eat, drink and party. Upstairs, downstairs, the garage and outdoor seating. Sadly the beer selection doesn't really follow suit. The beers available are decent but nothing really sexy enough to call this a beer destination. Milwaukee favorites and a few imports. Bottle list was a bit better than the tap list.

Solid place for cocktails and dinner but I would certainly pass by for better beer focused options. Namely the World of Beers that's opening across the street.

Nothing negative to say but nothing really positive to go on about.

When I'm on Brady Street and in the mood to spend a bit more on drinks, Hi Hat is a very nice option. This is a fairly large, multilevel bar, and as the previous reviewer mentioned, it is connected to another establishment, The Garage. It has something of a speakeasy feel to it, with trendy retro decor, low lighting, and usually a good selection of music playing. The bartenders are dressed in white shirts and vests, and I've always found them to be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. This bar is much better known for its martinis than its beer selection, but the bottled beer list is certainly better than average for this area. As for the food, it's quite a bit better than your average pub fare, with a nice selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. I've enjoyed everything I've had to eat there.

While you are paying a bit more for drinks and food at Hi Hat, you're also getting good quality, atmosphere, and service for your money. Of all the pubs on Brady Street, this is one that consistently delivers. And unlike certain bars in this area, Hi Hat doesn't exude a condescending, elitist, or unwelcoming vibe. Perhaps not an everyday kind of establishment, it's certainly one that's worth the visit every now and then.
