This beer is inspired by the long and hot summer days in the San Joaquin Valley—the fertile basin that yields much of California’s bountiful produce. This tart blond ale was brewed with Rainier and Bing cherries from Bella Viva Orchards and fermented with our house sour culture and aged for many months in used wine barrels to create a tart, cherry-kissed wild ale.

Caught me a bit off guard, when you tell me its a blonde ale, I'm thinking you know, its gonna be yellow/blonde pour, but no, this looked just like Supplication with its dark cherry light brown like color appearance. The head on it settles into just a thin 1/8" off white almost beige head. Aroma is tart, sour cherries, and a hint of leathery wine barrel oakiness.

Taste whoooo we got ourselves a sour boy here, this is up there, might be a 8 on a 10pt scale, visions of Sans Pagie jump out at me, Cascade Kriek, that level of sourness and cherry up in here. Gotta say I like the cherries used here. Raineer and Bing, das good stuff. Can't taste the alcohol. Pretty clean sour, typical for Almanac, they don't do that funky cheese and wet dog kind of sours. Bring the antacid, but its an acidity that is pretty complimentary with the dry finish and overall delicious cherry-ness of it. At $10 a bottle, its not a super screaming deal, but its also respectable quality at that price point.

A: Poured into a tulip to a deep golden orange topped by a finger of dense off white head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S; Smells of cherries, sourdough bread, light funk, and a little oak
T: taste is a huge puckering sour with loads of cherries, some funk, light oak, and a hint of vanilla. Swallow is more sourness, cherries, funk, and slight lingering oaky wine barrel.
M: This beer is on the lighter side of medium with effervescent carbonation which is perfect for the style while the acidity gives this one a drying finish.
O: Overall this is a pretty intense beer. It has a huge sour note but fortunately the other flavors are up to the task to keep if from being totally one note. Fairly good complexity and a good representative of the style. Worth a try if you can find it.

Had this one for a little while, not date on the bottle

Pours a white bubbly smaller head with sticky lacing, mostly clear blond honey color with rosy almost strawberry juice hue.

nose nice souring funk, sour blonde with nice acidity, a ltitle berry almost strawberry like, a little tart cherry and faint cherry cough syrup, an almost cranberry tartness, with sweetness, candy fruit, and a faint vinous

Taste starts very sour, mouth puckering, big acidity, acetic acid and lactic acid, nice souring bacteria, little wine vinegar, mild vinous notes with some buttery barrel mixed in the background, lots of sour fruit, a ltitle berry and cranberry again but more sour cherries, candied fruit and sweet syrupy notes, good funk level. Little flemmy finish, quite sour and acidic, lingering berry and cherry.

Mouth is med bod, a little syrupy, tart and very acidic, little flemmy, with lighter but OK carb.

Overall pretty nice, cherry doesn't hit you over the head like I thought it would, great souring and funk, nice acidity, little ont he sweet syrupy side but not too bad, and maybe a bit more carbonation would have helped. I liked the barrel and wine but wish both brought more to the table.

Big thanks to eyebereej for sending this one! Reviewed from (long-standing) notes. Poured from a 375 mL bottle into a 7venth Sun snifter.

A: Fairly hazy, orangish brown-gold. There’s a thin white that fades quickly and low visible carbonation.

S: Lactic tartness and sour cherries, dry white wine and dry wood. A modest funk. Very nice aroma, though not overly strong.

T: Tartness from lactic acid and cherry juice flavor. Yeasty, with a citric lemon bite and milder dry vinous character. Some bready malts and mild barnyard funk as well. The dry oak tannins near the end contribute to the very dry finish.

M: Medium body, good carbonation sensation, and the alcohol is well-hidden.

O: A pretty darn tasty beer. This is one of my favorites from Almanac’s Farm To Barrel series that I've had to date.

Pours blonde with a slight haze and pink hue. Aromas of lacto sour, slight vinegar, oak, and slight acidity. Taste follows nose with mild acidity, lacto sour, oak barrel and slight funk. The cherry was nearly non existent since it was aged in a fridge for a year and half but tastes none the less
