On tap at Brewer's Republic in CO Springs. Light golden color, no head. Aroma was pretty light, just a touch of ginger and a light salty smell. The flavors were pretty subdued, mainly ginger, kinda lacking from most Gose's in that it really didn't have that tart, salty flavor that I really love in a Gose. Was not terribly impressed with this one.

a new one from almanac, maybe their newest, at least in colorado. its good beer, on tap at tap and handle in for collins. i was surprised how little this seemed like a gose. to me, its more of a ginger pale ale or something. sure i get a little salt and some herbal quality, either hops or coriander, depending on impression, but its not much like a gose as i know them. i dont get a lot of wheat malt on it, its crystal clear and more brassy darker colored than the style usually allows for, and also real light on the sourness. i thought these were all quick lacto beers, but this one presents almost no acidity. despite all the body and the salt that does come on strong mid way though, it just lacks that hazy raw bucket beer thing that makes gose so original. this is too cleaned up, too refined, and it misses the mark a bit for me, especially for almanac, who is so good at beers like this. as for the ginger, its lively and fresh, quite pungent, almost at the expense of the more delicate parts of the beer, but refreshing and zippy on the back end. carbonation is there, but there is a little more body than i need and a little too much leftover sugar for me to want more than one. mixed feeling about almanac lately. if the price points were lower, itd be all good, but at these prices i need to be impressed...
