Almanac is proud to introduce our first wet-hopped ale! Brewed with 100% California-grown ingredients, this bright and refreshing ale highlights hops fresh off the bine. Picked early in the morning and in the brew kettle by early afternoon, our Fresh Hop Ale balances bright hops (Cascade, Chinook, Ivanhoe and Gargoyle varietals) with locally-grown malted barley to create a truly special seasonal beer. Best enjoyed fresh, this limited draft-only offering signals the coming of fall.

Imbibed at Wine Affairs on 9/5/12.

Clear pale with an amber tinge. Small amount of head due to the careful pour, but what's there laces well. Very strong nutty malt backed with a bulky bitter aroma. A little flowery and some light fruit like strawberry, but mainly just bitter. Taste is very light. Starts crisp and slightly pungent. Grows more pungent and turns bitter, nearly weedy. The aftertaste stays bitter and warming on the back of the tongue with a little bit of nuttiness coming back at the end. Middling mouthfeel, finish is slightly dry.

Liking this. It's pretty light and a bit fruity, but it's solidly hoppy and easily quaffable. As it should be with a beer with this ABV. (693 characters)
