This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

This barrel-aged ale is a celebration of the California autumn harvest. Brewed with heirloom pumpkins from La Tercera Farms in Bodega Bay, crisp Fuyu persimmons from Hamada Farms in the San Joaquin Valley and fresh ginger from the Santa Clara Valley, then aged for over a year in white wine barrels to create a deliciously complex wild ale.

Brewed with heirloom pumpkins, Fuji persimmons and fresh ginger and aged in white wine barrels.

Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with a short lived white head.

Nose is a bit closed; there is a hint of persimmon but maybe only because you know its there with also very light pumpkin and only a hint of ginger. Not the nose one would expect; not offensive; just very light and non-assertive. Just a very light fruit character and not a lot more.

Mouthfeel is light an elegant carbonation with a light citric tart and very nice balance. Fresh and inviting.

Flavor profile is very elegant and refined, for lack of a better word. Very drinkable and goes down like a low alcohol berlinerweisse, not at all like an almost 8% abv. brew. The flavor profile is very subtle, although there is an initial hit of light ginger and an almost unripe peach/stonefruit character.

This is a delicious drink with a complexity that is deceiving. The finish is clean, lightly tart and fresh.

There is an almost mint finish that is very pleasing. This and Farmer's Reserve #1 are two of the nicest efforts I've seen in a long time.

12oz bottle poured into a tegu glass

A- pours a hazy pale golden yellow color with a small fizzy white head that retains decently, eventually leaving a thin film behind, some lacing left behind

S- tart lacto aroma up front with the ginger being noticed the most, some fruity notes of peach skin, pear and red apple. Toasted oak with some white wine tart aromas close it out, with some lingering earthy yeast

T- pear and lactic sourness up front with the ginger adding a fresh aspect, along with a hint of mint. Some earthy yeast mixes with apple and a hint of lemon. Oaky white wine notes close it out with a fruity linger. I couldn't pick out any pumpkin flavor

M- medium body with low slightly biting carbonation leads to a low foamy mouthfeel and a crisp dry finish

O- this certainly isn't extreme, compared to some of their other sours, but it's incredibly drinkable. The ginger adds a nice light and fruity touch

Really nice beer. Well rounded. I did not get a lot of funk or sour. I thought it was well balanced. Nice pumpkin flavor.

Lots of funk on the nose. Oak and citrus. Very inviting. Bready and grapefruity. Maybe a hint of persimmon, but would never guess it had I not known. Not getting a lot of pumpkin or ginger.

Yellow hazy hue. Nice and bubbly, good head retention and subsequent lacing.

Wow. Taste is very complex, herbal, floral, reminiscent of sage. Spicy ginger root mingles with woody oak and citrus, fades into a subtle smooth finish. Delicious. Not as sour/funky as nose suggests. Fades quickly. Not a brash in your face kinda sour.

Body is light-medium. Pretty dry finish. Refreshing. Carbonation is high.

Pretty approachable for a sour, while still being something totally different and interesting.
