Pours a light golden orange colour with a nice fluffy white head that lasts quite long and leaves very nice lacing. The smell is just amazing. It was obviously dry hopped with citra because it just bursts with orange and grapefruit. The taste is also quite good, well-balanced, although lacking in complexity (probably a result of using only one hop variety!). It's a very light beer, perfect for hot summer days. I will buy this over and over again. Very good stuff.

A: Cloudy honey, with a lot of carbonation. Single finger head
S: Smells like strongly elder flowers
T: Nice Pale Ale/IPA with a moderate elderflower taste. Quite good
M: Very carbonated for a german made beer. Refreshing.
O: The best German Pale ale I’ve had. Could be a regular for me.

Pours amber with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows a fair bit of caramel and bready malt, but also some grapefruit, spicy and herbal hops.
Lovely malty flavours, lots of caramel, bready and biscuit-like malt. Some noble-esque hops follow along with a balancing mild bitterness.
Great moderate carbonation and lightish body.
Very drinkable stuff.

Picked this up at a great beer shop in Darmstadt, Germany, Maruhn Welt der Getränke. Cloudy yellow-orange pour with a one finger white head with decent retention and nice lacing. The nose is somewhat subdued, especially compared to their Comet IPA. Candy-like sweetness along with hints of lemon, grapefruit, and some subtle herbal hoppiness. None of the usual signature aroma from Citra hops. The taste is a bit more bold with some nice tropical notes along with hints of tangerine, caramel, lemon, mango, and some subtle pine and grapefruit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with nice carbonation and a tangy, refreshing, dry finish. Overall, this was a bit of a disappointment compared to their Comet IPA which I recently reviewed. It's not a bad IPA, but nothing really stands out.

33cl bottle poured into Seidel

BBE 14 August 2011

A- Orange cloudy body with a soapy sud 4 finger white head sitting on top, Retention and lacing are excellent.

S- Sweet citrus, orange, pineapple, some belgian spicyness

T- Citrus fruity flavours coming through, pineapple, orange, lemon zest. Subtle refreshing hop bite present in the dry finish, probably not as much as a typical APA. Tea like quality lingers.

M- High carbonation, medium/thin mouthfeel, feels a bit rough, not smooth

D- A very tasty flavour profile. Smells good, looks good. Probably slightly less hop bitterness in the finish compared to most APA's but for me this is a good quality. Perhaps doesnt have enough malt quality supporting on the palate compared to a world class APA like Sierre Nevada. However a tasty, American style from a German brewer, nice to see some innovation this side of the pond.

a - pours cloudy orange with a thin head, but good retention

s - as the name says very dominant lemon and grapefruit and an other non-citrus fruit I could not define (sorry)

t - hm. tastes like lemon grass or some other combination of fruity and maybe "earthy" aromata. the aftertaste is more sour than bitter, but in a refreshing way

m - surprisingly a bit watery, too bad. but with soft-balanced carbonation

o - a quite good pale ale I would drink again everytime, but far from "perfect"

I bought this bottle a few months ago during a stay in the south of Germany. This bottle caught my attention because of it's size and contents. Normally all German beers have the same (boring) half liter bottle. This one is different. Best before august 2011. A single hop craft beer.

The smell gives what the bottle told, a very citruslike smell. Poured in my Struise glass the beer looks very nice. Five fingers head and the fluid is a bit darker yellow.

A very drinkable ale with a bit too low ABV. It has a bit too light body but the great smell compensates this. Good German beer, compliments!

I got a couple of 12 oz bottles as a gift from Nick B. while in Germany in July 2011. Thanks!

Pours a clear peachy amber color, or cloudy if the yeast sediment is poured. Tall, white foam that persists. The smell is a strong fruity hops aroma, quite nice. The taste is fruity and aromatic with nice, prominent Citra Hops flavor, somewhat reminiscent of Cascade with some flavors of mango, apricot, and pear. The mouthfeel was very smooth with medium body and moderate carbonation feel. Some yeast in the mouthfeel, if the sediment was poured. This was a nice beer and a pleasant surprise in Deutschland.

Hazy orange pour, one finger sticky foamy head.
Strong citrusy smell, sweet and bitter, a tropical hint also, faint peach, biscuity malts.
Hops brought some nice flavors, very fruity, but not much else. Sweet tangerines and lots of mango, mild crisp oranges and grapefruit later on. Overripe pineapple and juicy peaches too. Touch of caramel in the slightly biscuity malts, hints of floral honey too. No green notes and almost no bitterness in the finish.
Smooth body, very low carbonation, easy to gobble down, but not as refreshing as it would have been with a tiny bit more fizz.
It's so fruity that you'd easily think they added fruit juice. It lacks a hoppy oomph! though. Nice showcase for a single hop Citra ale, tasty.

Pale yellow color, with decent froth head. Intense citraic aroma, also grapefruit and mango.

Smells delicious. Hoppy citrus with high metallic carbonation.

Crisp bitterness from the beginning, along with citrus and hints of yeast. As expected, this ale is very refreshing and easy drinkable. Still, it is far from boring, as the bitterness creates an interesting complexity as it gets more and more present on the palate. Hops vanish, while hints of copper add a different impression to the beer in combination with the always present, pleasant bitterness. A little more hops would add more punch to the beer.
