Well, the dude from "The Winetree" in Evansville loved this and spoke very highly of it. Let's see.

Served in an Olde Hickory glass.

A: I thought this was going to be one of those black saisons, but from the look of it, it looks like a DIPA. Cloudy, chilled hazed gold, with a 1/4 finger head that melted into a mere ring in 5 seconds flat.

S: More of an "Herb/Spiced Beer" just based on the nose. Coriander, flower petals, thyme, and white pepper. Interesting...

T: Okay, this DEFINITELY doesn't read saison to me.... more like either the aforementioned style from the nose, or one of Dogfish's foo-foo historic brews. Definitely wheat-based, floral, and sweet, but not too. I got crushed "Sweet Tarts."

M: The flatest farmhouse brew I've ever tasted, but as an "Herb/Spiced Beer" this was fine. The lacing was mildly splotchy and the sweetness wasn't in-line with the farmhouse style at all.

O: Not to sound like a broken record, but this is NOT as saison. It's more of a blend of several styles and I found it very creative. I know BA calls it a saison, but New Albanian makes no such claim. Very good beer.

Had on tap here in Indy a few months ago. Rating the bottle I bought at Costco today.

A: Clear, "shiny penny" copper. About a finger of quickly retreating head, little to no retention.

S: Floral and herby, spring field like smell. Smells good, but doesn't jibe with the look, at all.

T: Not a lot of the herbs I smelled, and this is definitely not a saison. It tastes more like an amber. It is not exciting.

M: Medium bodied, but seems flat/old.

Just not a good brew overall and I have no idea what they were shooting for.

I dont see why this beer is so poorly rated. I enjoyed it a lot.

Lots of nose including lemongrass, spice, belgian yeast, blueberry (pr blue agave based on description)

The flavor follows the nose. Lots of belgian yeast, lemon, peppery notes, blue agave/blueberry, bready malts, sweet butter.

Overall an enjoyable beer. A lot happening and it may conflict and clash a bit, might explain the lower rating. But i enjoyed this beer.

Poured from a 650ml bottle into a pint glass
A: Light orange with a 1/2-finger head
S: Sweet, some spice, some light wheat notes
T: Lots of spice initially followed by some florals/potpourri, not a lot in the way of malty/hoppy characteristics
M: Light-bodied, a fair amount of carbonation
O: Meh. Not what I'd call a saison but not sure what style it would be... a unique/interesting beer but not one I'd buy again

Had a 25 oz of this On-Tap in Louisville.

Made great for the large quantity. I drank it rather quickly.

The small head faded quickly.

Some spicyness. Dry, but not as much as the other saison's I've had. Very pleasant.

I would say this does not have all the characteristics of a saison, but then again I haven't had too many. Could have used a touch more carbonation.
