22oz bottle. Great name for the new world habit of messing with well established styles.

This beer pours a clear medium golden amber hue, with one finger of bubbly, loosely foamy off-white head, which leaves little beyond a low berm of seashore lace around the glass as it quickly settles.

It smells of semi-sweet tropical fruit - pineapple, starfruit, and a bit of candied banana - softly bready caramel malt, a touch of baker's yeast, and some ethereal musty PineSol. The taste is a whole lot more fruitier, in a subtly bitter overripe rind sort of manner, the pineapple, guava, tangerine, kiwi, and sugary banana esters all there, and well blended at the same time. A pastry-esque bready malt performs admirably underneath it all, as the earthy yeast and slightly acerbic pine needle notes close the book on any and all booze astringency.

The carbonation is rather sedate, and yet duly supportive, the body a decent medium weight, smooth as far as the timid hops and now burgeoning alcohol allow, and creamy in a cookie dough sort of way. It finishes off-dry, the creamed caramel malt holding steady, while the various island hops wisp away one by one.

A pretty decent strong Belgian pale ale, with a respectable Yankee tweak, one that even the best old world producers might be susceptible to attempting. But these guys have this now, as do I, sipping outside while gazing at the rolling Southern Alberta foothills, on a truly summer-like evening. Sigh.

This is a top 5 beer for me. Loaded with citrus and tropical fruit throughout. I love the belgian ipa style amd this is an excellent examplem. Hides the alcohol very well. I could drink this all day. If you like citrus ipas find a way to get your hands on this beer.

I rated this one relatively high. I want to note (more for my future self) that I feel like this rating reflects my opinion of this beer considering what it is meant to be. There is a welcome sweet Belgian yeast flavor.

Side note, I dropped the appearance as I wrote this because I noticed some cloud and sediment. It still looks very much how you want it to look.

Enjoyed 12 oz. on tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary. Arrived in a tulip glass, a cloudy orange-yellow with a light dappling of white bubbles. Smells like underripe bananas and orange rind, well-spiced with phenols that run the gamut from allspice to light bandage, with a honey-sweet undercurrent. The first sip reveals a thinnish well-attenuated body with some residual sugars nevertheless providing a "coating" mouthfeel. Maybe just a hair chewier than the average tripel. Rich bready malts, honey, pears, sour lemon, allspice, and the aforementioned green banana all greet the drinker. This is less clean than a golden ale like Duvel and conveys a tripel-like sweet booziness, some yeasty funk, and a good measure of spicy and medicinal phenols. Finishes citric and tangy, with some pine-like hop flavors popping in to say hello. Very enjoyable Belgian that falls somewhere between a few different styles. Sort of comes across like a weightier, far more flavorful Leffe blonde.

Poured this with a decent off-white, foamy head and a little lace. Color is a slightly hazy, medium amber. Aroma is hop, malt, fruit. Flavor is like nose, hints of the gin. sweet is in front, followed by a hint of tang. body/carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor, not that long and only a suggestion of the power. Decent stuff; I'd have more.

650ml bomber poured into tulip 19/8/13

A clear light copper with tiny bubbles popping up from everywhere, two finger of foam quickly falls to a thin film leaving lots of random lace

S not what I was expecting with heavy hops, pineapple, mango, dried apricot and tangerine, some booze, brown sugar with faint banana chips and Belgian yeast, I was expecting a Quad so this was an interesting surprise

T very fruity with a little more Belgian influence then the nose, still lots of sugars but not overly sweet if that makes any sense, lots of hops with a little hard toffee

M medium with enough bubbles to cream it up, a little slick with faint heat

O I love pleasant surprises and this one strikes me more as a Belgian DIPA more then anything else and I rather liked it, quite drinkable for 10%

Not at all what I was expecting but I'm happy with what I ended up with, hopped up with some Belgian flair I could drink this again no problems
