Enjoyed 12 oz. on tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary. Arrived in a tulip glass, a cloudy orange-yellow with a light dappling of white bubbles. Smells like underripe bananas and orange rind, well-spiced with phenols that run the gamut from allspice to light bandage, with a honey-sweet undercurrent. The first sip reveals a thinnish well-attenuated body with some residual sugars nevertheless providing a "coating" mouthfeel. Maybe just a hair chewier than the average tripel. Rich bready malts, honey, pears, sour lemon, allspice, and the aforementioned green banana all greet the drinker. This is less clean than a golden ale like Duvel and conveys a tripel-like sweet booziness, some yeasty funk, and a good measure of spicy and medicinal phenols. Finishes citric and tangy, with some pine-like hop flavors popping in to say hello. Very enjoyable Belgian that falls somewhere between a few different styles. Sort of comes across like a weightier, far more flavorful Leffe blonde.

Poured this with a decent off-white, foamy head and a little lace. Color is a slightly hazy, medium amber. Aroma is hop, malt, fruit. Flavor is like nose, hints of the gin. sweet is in front, followed by a hint of tang. body/carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor, not that long and only a suggestion of the power. Decent stuff; I'd have more.

650ml bomber poured into tulip 19/8/13
A clear light copper with tiny bubbles popping up from everywhere, two finger of foam quickly falls to a thin film leaving lots of random lace
S not what I was expecting with heavy hops, pineapple, mango, dried apricot and tangerine, some booze, brown sugar with faint banana chips and Belgian yeast, I was expecting a Quad so this was an interesting surprise
T very fruity with a little more Belgian influence then the nose, still lots of sugars but not overly sweet if that makes any sense, lots of hops with a little hard toffee
M medium with enough bubbles to cream it up, a little slick with faint heat
O I love pleasant surprises and this one strikes me more as a Belgian DIPA more then anything else and I rather liked it, quite drinkable for 10%
Not at all what I was expecting but I'm happy with what I ended up with, hopped up with some Belgian flair I could drink this again no problems

A: Light orange, almost golden body. Fully translucent. Appears heavily carbonated. Fizzy white head. Medium lacing. Solid thin layer of retention.
S: Upfront banana-like yeasty smell. Pears. Grapefruit citrus. Some grass and hay. Definitely some hops intertwined within.
T: The yeasty banana follows the nose. Hoppy bitterness follows the yeast upfront and the citrus sweet balances out the finish. Some boozy warmth.
M: Full body. High carbonation. Prickly. Boozy. Dry.
O: For being rather simple, this one is really well done. A nice first go-round for this brewery for me. A good example of the style.

bomber into a flute glass.
pours a crisp copper color with a nice inch size white head with good lacing. the smell is very hoppy with dry, tropical hops. smells like an IPA. taste though, isnt the same at all. big sweetness and bitterness blend together as one on this one and it results in a very interesting and unique mix. its very dry and you can taste the fruity hops on the end. medium bodied with medium carbonation, wouldnt have guessed 10% ABV.
overall glad to have tried this one as its quite different from most. you wont be regretting it if you do.
