A: Picked this up at NW liquid gold in Vancouver. Pours a clear golden color, decent sized head with some slight lace down the glass
S: Smells sweet and fruity. Lots of apple and pear scents also smells of banana and spices.
T: Sweet fruity flavors up front followed by a nice spicy/peppery bite at the end.
M: Medium bodied, good carbonation provides a good bite. Not too syrupy for the ABV.
O: I like this beer quite a bit, would buy this one again for sure.

22 ounce bottle into chalice, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of apricot, apple, pear, banana, grape, honey, candi sugar, bubblegum, clove, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with a good amount of malt presence. Taste of apple, pear, apricot, banana, grape, honey, candi sugar, bubblegum, clove, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, banana, honey, candi sugar, bubblegum, clove, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy ester flavors; with a good amount of malt balance and no cloying sweetness after the finish. A little too malty for my preferences, but it is still quite balanced. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Tripel style. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with moderate malt balance; and quite smooth to sip on for the ABV level. A very enjoyable offering.

Appearance is clear, dark gold, with a small white head leaving scattered foamy lace.

Smell is big bubblegum esters, with a sharp, almost limoncello-like boozy bite.

Taste is also fruity and a little dirty & hot. Much like that description would have appealed to me more in my youth for a girl, the same goes for Belgian blondes...I do like the tropical fruit and lime zest notes, but it's all just too brash and tiresome...and now I'm stuck with this analogy of picking up some girl at the bar when I was a kid, and from a distance thinking home run, then slowly realizing that she may be too fun, to the point of having to decide if I could tolerate her long enough to actually go through with it! While I now consider myself a most honor gentleman, to which I'm sure my wife will attest, I nevertheless decided to power through with this one in spite of it's more grating attributes...

Mouthfeel is medium-light, dry. An oiliness, presumably from the fusels....

Drinkability is ok. Gets the job done, but doesn't quite hit the spot, and gets a fake number before I bolt!

Pours an orange color with a nice white head. I quite enjoy the aroma of this. Straw and grass with nice yeast esters of apple, banana, and pear. Some biscuit malt sweetness, too. Flavor isn’t quite as great, but still enjoyable. A light white grape note on the palate along with banana, apple, and pear. Some biscuit malt, a touch of honey, and a light grassiness.

22oz into an Ommegang tulip. Poured fairly agressively as soon as I notice a surprising lack of head developing, and still just a tiny ring of bubbles and some lazy carbonation rising from the bottom. Zero head. I pour the second half of the bottle into a different glass just to make sure this isn't a glassware issue. Nope. This is a very disappointing start. Color is a clear golden by the way.

Aroma is perfumy and floral. Lots of fruity esters, but almost too sweet and perfumy. Some bubblegum too.

Taste is kind of all over the place. Belgian yeast, bitter hops, slightly grainy malt. The same floral, perfumy essence I picked up on the nose. A hint of bubblegum, crushed aspirin. Not good, and it's getting harder to finish.

Mouthfeel is flat, like the beer itself. Watery, thin.

Overall, I'm really disappointed. I was expecting a lot more from this based on a couple comments from local BAs, suspect I might have gotten a bad bottle. Hate to give a negative review to a new local brewery, but this one was a big swing and a miss. Too many other great tripels out there to bother w/ this one again.

Served in large tulip. Poured a (relatively) clean, clear golden-honey/amber with about 1/4 inch of white head that OK retention and no lacing.

The aroma was a fairly typical blend of the expected yeast, spice and grains. All the features were pretty much where they needed too, but no individual aspect stood out. On the tongue, the story was pretty much the same, the expected spiciness and yeast made their presences known, the grains provided a solid foundation and the 9+% ABV was nicely hidden. The only thing that didn't hit the mark was a slight bubblegum flavor on the finish, but it faded fairly quickly.

The body was the typical medium-light that I expect from one of my favorite styles. Drinkability was very good, but I'm biased, I love Tripels and all them to be very drinkable. Overall, a nice solid example of the style that is certainly worth trying when you see it, and is probably worth a day trip out to the OlyPen to check out the brewery.

Poured a nice golden into my Russian River chalice.
Beautiful!
Wow! factor throughout. From first sip to the end.
9/9% ABV and I felt it at the end but meanwhile, what an experience.
This is as good as it gets folks!
From start to finish more than what I have come to expect from one of my favorite styles.
If you like a tripel and if you have the chance, you are doing an injustice passing on Sound's Tripel.

750 mL bottle courtesy of Libby pours a mostly clear, light cold color with a fine-bubbled off-white head. Nice and sticky, leaves plenty of lace.

Nose shows a nice Belgian yeast character, stronger and more authentic than I expected. Light grains and the yeast throws off some fruity honeydew melon and mango aromas. Smells pretty damn good.

Taste is mostly tropical, fruity yeast that is accentuated by a strong alcohol presence and lacking grain ubiety. The yeast is nice enough...but I just dont feel like it has enough supporting character. The alcohol is a bit hot and rough around the edges, which probably does not help. I had the Monk's Indiscretion a week or two before this one and maybe that one set my expectations a little high...this one is decent, but if I had to recommend one of the two tripels from Sound, go with the Monk's!
