Commonwealth is definitely one of the better bars in the El Paso area. They have a unique vibe going that is more typical of cities like Austin or San Francisco.

The food is impeccable - yet it's bar food! I think a better term would be stoner food. They'll take a burger or hot dog and come up with all kinds of interesting ingredient combinations to add. The garlic parmesan fries are an awesome accompaniment to a meal.

The beer selection used to be better but I guess they had to cut back because of costs. They several of my favorite beers on tap, though, so they get bonus points: Old Chub and Breckenridge Vanilla Porter. I'm not sure of the exact number, but I think they have around 12-14 beers on tap as of now. Most of them are craft beers.

They host local music during the weekends as well.
Definitely one of the better places to hang out in El Paso on a weekend night.

Excellent food, awesome live music, friendly staff and a pretty decent selection of beers on tap.

I was told they try to bring in at least one new beer a month, so there's always something new to try.

The selection is actually pretty good, especially for El Paso. Pretty big mix of craft beers too.

The bartenders don't really seem to be beer sophisticates and don't always know how to answer your more specific beer-related questions, but they are very friendly and as helpful as they can be.

Did I mention the food? Best bar food in the city, easily. You're definitely going to want to check this place out sometime, grab a strong craft IPA and a design-your-own burger and listen some dudes and gals rocking out on stage.
