This is an upscale Italian skewed market located in a pretty rural section of Maryland (although this place is rural this is a main town and has all the standards of big towns like here in NJ.. just the next big town is 15 minutes away or more).
They represent Maryland well with lots of Duclaw stuff but also have a nice selection of bombers (belgian etc.). Maryland seems to have plenty of New Belgium stuff (which is a treat for this NJ resident - fat tire etc). They have a cold section and a warm section that is about 6 ft long.. so it may not seem like much but for out of area people it really has some nice stuff.
I was asked if I needed help specifically about the beer and took the clerk through some questions. He had knowledge better than some just run of the mill schmuck so kudos there.
The food is very good and they have all sorts of takeout meals. It seems very out of place in Calvert County but anyone from Manhattan or NY/NJ will find a place like this pretty normal as boutique italian markets are pretty common in these parts.
With the Calvert Wine and Spirits closed (just down the street by the Food Lion) this is your next best option as the stuff on the shelves at the place across from former Jasper's seems to have some dated brews.
Pick up some good cheese, bread and beers... I vacation down there so this is a great spot in a pretty beer boring town/area.

Nicks of calvert is located right in the middle of calvert county in prince fredrick, right off of route 4.
When you first walk in you are greeted by a cashier and something cooking in the distance. Nice, clean and wide open store I make my way to the beer aisle. First it's imports. Stella, hoegaarden, paulaner then domestics and finally crafts.
DFH, full sail, ommegang, Gordon biersch. They come in six packs and bombers. I was very impressed by the selection for being a grocery store that carries beer. As I stood back trying to make a decision, a stock boy asked if I was finding everything ok. As I started talking to him more he started to tell me they just expanded the craft and specialty section just recently and and are adding new beers every week.
After taking it all in for a few more moments, I deceided on the ommegang gnomegang, declaw devils milk and 6 pack of GB's hefe.
Pricing was outstanding and everybody was very helpful and polite. Definitely recommend Nicks to anybody in the area or just visiting.
