Wedding reception at the Normandie Inn on Kentucky Derby Saturday. Where else am I gonna be at post time? Janlud at my side.
Atmosphere: The Farmer's Daughter is bifurcated into a bar area and a formal dining area. I was in the bar, a large, open room. The bar snaked through the middle of the room like an inverted 'J', granite-topped. A number of televisions dotted the walls. Very spacious, there is ample room to stretch out.
Quality: I was greeted by the bartender asking what style of beer I liked - right down to business! The bar area, behind the bar, is wooden and warm. Restrooms were in the common area - no complaints.
Service: Greeted immediately and taken care of nicely for several pints. I like a bar that employs a chalkboard. As I entered the bartender was furiously scribbling away, updating one.
Selection: I'd say twelve taps, of which at least 9 had local craft beer. Victory, Weyerbacher, Troegs, Stoudt's, Bavarian Barbarian, Yards, and Flying Fish represented the craft selection. I worked my way though a Headbangerz brown from Bavarian and Headwaters from Victory. Janlud took down two Dreamweavers.
Food: We were there for a reception, so no menus were cracked. The dining room looks very nice though, and I'm sure an upscale meal would be no problem.
