A: Had this on-tap at Gene's Haufbrau in a pint glass. Had a black color and a thick texture. There was a half inch of creamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Average lacing.
S: A lot more coffee than I would have expected from this beer, but it also had some hops and malt as well.
T: Tasted of coffee, first and foremost, with a good amount of hops and roasted malt. With this style you expect the hops to be more front and center than you have here. A little unbalanced, but not a bad flavor.
M: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth, if somewhat thin finish. Medium-bodied.
O: In spite of some flaws I actually enjoyed this beer.

Had on-tap at the VooDoo Lounge in West Ashley. Excited to try another Holy City brew... first one rated, though -
A: Served in a standard shaker pint, this is one dark ale... black and opaque; looks pretty heavy in the glass - especially with the thick, two-finger head of cappuccino-hued foam that caps the darkness; quite a few sticky rings of lace get left on the glass as it goes down.
S: Roast malt; sweet; some chocolate; floral hop aroma... definitely not the citrus / pine and/or resin blast I was expecting that seems typical of the style - the hops are there, just not pummeling the other aromas present.
T: Wow... very roasty for the style; some milk chocolate on the end, too; some nondescript, dank citrus rind bitterness rounds things out - perhaps a touch resiny. Because of the huge roasted malt flavor of this brew, along with the chocolate notes I picked up, it seems more like a hoppy stout.
M: Full; high carbonation; a bit sticky.
D/O: Really seems to me like more of a stout that black ale; its just too roasty and heavy - it even looks like more of a stout than black ale. Its a well constructed beer... just seems to miss the mark on the style for me. Because of the roasted astringencies and higher IBUs present, this beer doesn’t lend too much, for me, in the drinkability department. Looking forward to trying more offerings by these guys -

So, WOW pours an opaque inky black awesomeness. With a nice cappuccino head that laces for days, awesome.
Roasty roasty goodness with a thick hoppy purfume what i presume to be chinook piney perfume and EKG nice floral noble aromas. Fabulous either way.
Roasty coffee chocolatey goodness enveloped in an awesome fog of hoppy floral piney perfume.
This fantastic brew is overly drinkable, plus, and light and dry while still full and not cloying.
If you are lucky enough to put this on your tongue, IT SHOULD BE DONE. loved it!!!! Thank you guys for the wonderful brew. PROST!!!!
