A: Had this beer on-tap at Gene's Haufbrau, poured into a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick consistency. There was a thin creamy head that quickly dissipated. Good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of malt, something sweet and sugary, and a nutty quality.

T: Tasted of malt, the ubiquitous brown ale nuttiness, light hops, and a hint of toffee as well. A vibrant, well-rounded, surprisingly forceful flavor.

M: A fairly well-carbonated beer with a slightly dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A bit different than the typical American Brown Ale, but tasty nonetheless. Drinkable.

Serving type: on-tap

The beer is chestnut brown with a mild haze, sporting a quarter inch of soapy tan head. Aromas include toffee, chocolate, coffee beans, nuts. Chocolate flavors up front with a subtle earthy quality. hazelnuts and semi sweet chocolates with a robust malt profile. Hop bitterness and pine resin in the finish, more than is customary for the style. Well balanced and flavorful. Good stuff.

Poured from a can into a shaker pint, the beer is a dark brown coloring, slightly muddled, with a thin, low profile, light tan head. Aromas of coffee, roasted and sweet hazelnut, toffee sweetness, and a underlying hops citrus and bitterness. The nose is more balanced and substantial than a lot of browns out there. Flavors are nutty and roasted forward, with an immediate blast of resin and citrus hops in the backbone. This is a unique take on the brown style; much hoppier than usual. Some chocolate notes are in there, too, but just about all of the sweetness is cut by the heavy dose of hops character at the end of the palate. The body is smooth and light, and the beer has a hoppy aftertaste of bitterness, citrus sweet, and pine. Smooth, slightly drying finish. Interesting brew, almost getting into the realm of IBA.

A: Pours a cloudy red-brown with big khaki head that takes its time settling down and leaves some great lacing behind.

S: Aromas of coffee, toasted grain, sweet bread a light floral note and a hint of citrus.

T: Taste of chocolate, espresso, roasted malt, a light herbal note from the nugget hops, with a slightly dry bitter finish.

M: Smooth mouthfeel with medium body and decent carbonation and a resinous aftertaste.

O: A good american brown (with some porter-ish roots) and a nice hop character. Will be looking for more for sure.
