On tap at Closed for Business. Served in a goblety pint glass.

Appearance - Deep brown. Excellent lacing from a small off-white head.

Smell - Nutty and chocolatey. Not a very intense aroma. Some earthy hops behind it.

Taste - Very chocolatey. Caramel and chocolate dark malts. The hops come up aggressively behind it. Overly bitter, but it does cut a bit of the sugars. Lingering sharp hop bite.

Mouthfeel - The finish is a little abrasive. Too bitter and sharp. Medium bodied.

Overall - Enjoyable, but a very different beer in the front and the back end.

A: Had this beer on-tap at Gene's Haufbrau, poured into a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick consistency. There was a thin creamy head that quickly dissipated. Good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of malt, something sweet and sugary, and a nutty quality.

T: Tasted of malt, the ubiquitous brown ale nuttiness, light hops, and a hint of toffee as well. A vibrant, well-rounded, surprisingly forceful flavor.

M: A fairly well-carbonated beer with a slightly dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A bit different than the typical American Brown Ale, but tasty nonetheless. Drinkable.

Single finger slightly tan head on a hazy brown body with nice lacing. Aroma is excellent with sweet toffee, caramel malts, brown sugar. Flavor is simple but incorporates the brown ale caramel malts and brown sugars well without being too sweet with a subtle earthy hop presence. Medium body's bad light to moderate carbonation. I admit I had this after a very piney and tart pale ale so it is hardto judge but it was excellent overall.
