I reviewed Lighthouse when it opened back in 2011 but a lot has changed so it's only fair that I update my review. And the updates are very good.

The vibe here is good. I've always been greeted by the cashier on the way in and there's always someone there within a minute or two checking to see if you need help. Most of the people I've dealt with know their sh*t and can steer you in the right direction.

I'll wrap quality and selection into one rating...solid. They started with around 14 fridges devoted primarily to craft beer but with the standard macros in the last 2-3 coolers. Since then, they have more than doubled their fridge space with around 36 coolers which are labeled by state/region along with seasonal and combo-packs which is helpful. They also added a nice growler bar with 14 taps with great draft options and a surprisingly high churn so there's always something good/new on tap. Value is solid too especially compared to other options in the area.

Beer-wise, they have pretty much everything that's available in MD. I'd argue that they don't have the clout they should have with the rarer beers so if you're looking for something under the radar this may not be your place but they have incredible coverage of every distributed brewery in the area.

There is a small deli section apparently sponsored by Boar's Head. Sandwiches range from $6-$9 and the few I've had have all been incredible...about what you'd expect from anything involving Boar's Head meats/cheeses.

My initial review was a bit critical in terms of a newer shop finding their way but as competition in the area has increased Lighthouse has proven (to me at least) that they're the go-to in Canton and maybe the Baltimore area in general. There's always room to grow, but Lighthouse is definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
