What a nice presentation: A voluminous but short-lived, finely bubbled, bone white head sits over a body of cloudy ocher. The aroma is yeasty and herbal, full of Brett must, phenolic and fruit notes. The taste as would be expected is very herbal. The lemongrass and sage stand out and pair well with the Brett flavors. Mouthfeel smooth but tongue clinging with a light prickle. Moderate bodied with moderate carbonation it is mouth filling. It is a pleasant Saison.

A well crafted brew but not enough Brett. It ends up feeling incomplete. Not sure if age will help it out a bit or not. Good but could have been great.

On tap at Market of Choice.
A clear light yellow with a thin white head with good retention and minimal lacing, this looks solid. The nose is bright and refreshing, a blend of lemon, sage, a juniper and orange peel blend that calls to mind gin, and nice lemongrass. Light honey notes are present. The palate opens mildly sour with a clean lactic acid note that's wonderfully complemented by the fresh lemongrass, with the sage adding a pleasant accent. Mildly reminiscent of Special Herbs but not as good. Oily lemongrass and floral honey are present on the mid palate. The potency of the lemongrass obscures the Brett notes that Chad works hard to express here. Drying on the finish with a clean lemongrass note, this beer is medium light in body and moderately carbonated with the alcohol faintly noticeable. Very nice.

The nose of this beer was really amazing upon pouring. Sweet floral notes with a subtle green apple aroma. The head on the beer was off white in color and quickly disappeared. The beer was light straw colored. The flavor was surprisingly tart. A little bit of sage at the start and that sweet and tart apple at the finish. The beer was very light and bubbly, so bubbly you can feel it on your tongue.

July 8th, 2015 - I'm already glowing with enthusiasm after my first Crooked Stave beer, but the Wild Sage has caught my eye for its curious but promising flavor. Gold with a light chill haze in the glass, it's the aroma that strikes that first botanical note with heavy sage and cinnamon. There's also a bit of toasted cumin, with an all-around smell of Fall. A puff of lemongrass adds freshness that is more citric than botanical. The appealing intensity of the sage on the smell has been pared back for the palate, offering a balanced, mild and brilliantly designed beer. There's a mild sweet glow in the mid-taste, with a longer aftertaste like fresh rain in the desert, preceded by a well paced tour de force of sage's beautiful flavor and smell.

The beer pours out a hazy golden color, with 1 finger of white head------- the aromas are of funk, spice and lime--------- the flavors start off dry with lemon, spice and vinegar, the beer has a medium mouthfeel with a light bitter finish--------- overall this beer was good - this was an interesting take on a saison with the sage and lemon grass but I like the way it turned out, tart and dry with some spice on the finish----
