Initial sour was decent but taste dropped off to nothing far too quickly.

Pours a decent bubbly purple head mostly clear but bright reddish ruby maroon color.

Nose brings mild Brett funk, plenty of blackberry, mild green stem and seed, but very light, faint buttery oak, an almost cranberry tartness.

Taste brings sweet fruit and tart fruit, more blackberry stem and seed, a tart cranberry like, juicy tart fruit, very light on the Brett, bitter tannic seed, lots of it, with very faint buttery oak. Finish is dry mild tannic seed, little tart fruit and blackberry, etc.

Mouth is lighter bod, very little carb, tart little flemmy.

Overall very light.

Shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice almost crystal clear light purple hue with a thin white head that fades almost immediately to leave thin halo.

S - Aromas of light generic berry, faint barrel, light tartness. Very subtle and almost bland.

T - Taste is better than the nose, really faint berry notes, light funk, light barrel, some buttery oak, soft tartness that grows stronger as the beer opens.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, rather thin.

O - Overall this beer was really really light and subtle, almost too a fault. Needs more pop.

Big thanks to quirkzoo for the awesome BIF beer. Bottled September 2013. Tasted August 2014.

Pours a gorgeous burgundy red, with amber hues. One finger of fizzy pinkish head. Okay retention, good for a sour.

Smell is an outstanding clean, very lightly fruity, lemony tart sour. It pinches just enough, fills the nose just enough. Stellar.

Taste is fantastic as well. The fruit is a little more present, though the blackberry is still quite faint, like they just squeezed a bit of the juice into it. No matter - there's enough, and that clean, crisp sour is just what I'm looking for. Finishes with a twinge of bitter. I really like this.

Feel is good enough, though not the high point. Medium bodied, could use a little more fizz. Otherwise, it works well.

I really really like this beer. There's just enough berry in it that I won't complain, and the depth of flavors in the sour realm is amazing. Really really good, and very much makes me want to try more Crooked Stave stuff.

Reviewing as I'm drinking it.

375ml purple wax top bottle that has been split with my brother while watching LSU stomp all over Kentucky.

Enjoyed from a 7venth Sun tulip and donated by my friend Dr. Love.

A - Dark purple/reddish hazy colored. Head lasted apx 30 seconds then quickly dissipated to nothingness even after a year of aging.

S - Berries, tart, oak.

T - Big dry tart flavor to start, followed by fizzy berries and small hint of oak & wood at the finish.

M - Found this one to be very light with a hint of mouth pucker to it. Tongue tingled from the carbonation, not very sour but the tart was noticeable.

O - Not overly complex. Beauty in its simplicity. My first CS brew and I am very pleased!

(side note: brother is not a beer snob and when asked for his review he stated "It's good. Like they made Sweet Tart's candy taste like drunken berries." Pretty accurate I think.)
