375ml bottle courtesy of the person I trusteed for, thanks buddy. I've heard this beer had diacetyl issues and I'm very sensitive to it. I picked up not a trace of butter in the aroma or flavor so that's good. Color was a slightly hazed orange yellow though I kept the yeast out of the pour, no head at all. Aroma was weird to me, I swear I got a touch of mint or menthol, yeast, and no peaches though my girlfriend said it smelled like dried peaches to her. Flavor was mildly tart, the faintest hint of peaches, and pretty mild. Overall very easy to drink but disappointing considering the reputation of the previous iteration. In fact if I were a reserve member is be sort of upset by the quality of these beers. I know Crooked Stave is capable of producing stellar beers but 95% of their stuff let downs.

Enjoyed side by side with blend 2 from a crooked stave mini snifter.

a - brew pours a pale yellow. Identical to the other blend in appearance. Thin fizzy head that was gone instantly.

s - nose is like a werthers candy. Way less sour than blend 1 and more buttery.

t/m - odd sour with a big buttery finish, like movie theater popcorn. Caramel coats my mouth with butteriness

o - overall buttery. Something nice under there, but buttery. Hopefully time will save her would like blend 1. I bet this will come around.

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy pale orange. No head. Just a thin white collar.

Smell - Nice peach aroma. Slightly acidic. Light graininess. Mild brett, but more of a lactic acidity.

Taste - Bright tartness. Peach isn't as... peachy. Lemony tartness. Grain. Clean lactic sour finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium light. Pleasantly light and drinkable.

Overall - This is a far cry from how I remember the original Persica, but it's still very good.

From a 375 ml bottle (Blend # 1 on the back of the label) into a tulip.

A-A normal pour produces a thin layer of white head that fades immediately to a collar. No lacing. The beer is light, light honey-golden in color with a bit of haze. I can see a stray bubble or two of carbonation.

S-The aroma is quite mild. I detect some peach, a little bit of lactic tartness, and some oak. It is not bad, and the flavors are in good balance, but there is not much happening here.

T-The taste is also pretty mild. The peach is still there, but tartness is a little more pronounced. I get a bit of lactic pull at the back of my palate with each sip. Oak and funk are mild, but present. As the beer warms I notice just a hint of buttery sweetness in my last few sips.

M-The feel is medium to full in body with a nice, assertive carbonation.

O-This beer is pretty tame. Although I have nothing against a restrained approach, this was just a bit too restrained. The little bit of butterscotch on the finish doesn't help things either. On the plus side, no one flavor is overpowering and the level of tartness nicely pairs with the peach flavor. I'm going to compare against Blend 2 tomorrow.

Bottle opened 2.4.14

A - Pours a hazy light orange with a fizzy white head that is gone fast.

S - Brett, oak, funky, subtle peach.

T - Oaky and nice peach, subtle tartness, very slight hint of butter in the after taste. Recent bottles do not show this. I will rate accordingly.

D - Light body with good carbonation.

O - Thankfully not a butter-bomb, and now the butter is gone. Lovely peaches.
