Appearance - poured from a 375 ml bottle. Light amber milky color with little to no lacing.

Smell - nice tart aroma with a slight funk.

Taste - tart from the beginning with citrus notes including lemon and grapefruit.

Mouthfeel - nice mouthfeel, overall light with a tartness that lingers.

Overall - this would be a refreshing beer for a hot summers day. Very good in my opinion and I will certainly look for more. Great job again Crooked Stave.

Drank on-tap
Served in a stemmed glass

The hazy, lemon yellow liquid was topped by small white head that quickly dissolved. No lacing whatsoever.

The aroma was deeply complex and displayed many qualities of a traditional gueuze. Super funky and musty with lots of wet hay and barnyard character. Strong, tart lemony notes came through as well. Quite oaky.

Like the nose, the flavor was also remarkably gueuze-like. Bright, lemony notes led things off and were followed by an intensely musty, barnyard-like presence. Super funky and earthy. The beer was anchored by a pale, crackery malt base. Lots of oak and acidity on the finish. The lemon notes and the sourness intensified with time but never overwhelmed the other the more subtle flavors. Dry, tannic, oaky notes came through on the finish.

The mouthfeel was soft and plush with a fine, mellow effervescence. Once the liquid settled on the palate, it turned smooth and creamy.

Crooked Stave's WWB Batch 60 is an amazingly dynamic beer that is funkier and more complex than most traditional gueuzes. I will definitely make a point to seek out more beers from this brewery.
