375 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep brown body. Deep red flecks, almost purple. Off white head and a nice collar.

Smell - Deep berry. Sharp wine-like acidity. Some vanilla. Oak.

Taste - Lots of red wine sourness. I guess that's berry fruitiness manifested as red wine. Oak is strong. Light vanilla. Lingering astringent sourness.

Mouthfeel - Very intense sourness. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Too sour for me, but the flavors are nice until they're overwhelmed.

Bottle decanted into a handy Tired Hands stem glass. Dark plummy black color, opaque, with a full inch of tan head even with a careful pour; this receded to a thick layer of bubbles, leaving sheets of lacing on the glass. Lacto tartness evident in the aroma, berries, wet oak, a little soapy. Lots of fruit up front in the taste, blackberry and red grape, lemon, something of a chewy sweet fig sensation also, wet oak, assertive lacto tartness, afterthoughts of funky yeast, wet grass, and the most subtle hint of vanilla, possibly as a trace whiskey remnant. Some notes of cocoa dust came out as the beer warmed. Medium body, prickly mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, good sourness.

Not nearly as distinctive or good as Raspberry Dark Origins, but still very good in its own way.
