A 375ml bottle, bottled in January 2016. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A hazy murky reddish brown colour with a one finger off white head that dissipated fairly quickly, while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Funky, oak, vinous, herbal, mixed berries, blueberry skin.
Taste: Lightly sour and tart, blueberry, oak, lemon, herbal, brett, leather.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to soft carbonation.
Overall: Hides the 12% abv well. And while there is nice blueberry and oak notes, there is also this flavour that didn’t fully integrate, that I’m going to describe as ‘herbal’ but not exactly herbal, as I don’t have a better descriptor.

Amber hued with a fingernail of amber tinged white around the rim and covering the majority of the middle. The aroma is of faint blueberries. The flavor is a blend of tart brettanomyces, tart blueberries, and woodsy oak. The mouth is dry and smooth. My bottle was made in January of 2016 and initially gushed upon opening despite minimal disturbance with opening.

Pours a deep rosé wine red. Sour and dry, a decent lambic, I don't get a strong blueberry flavor or aroma, just a general berry tartness. Strong for a lambic at 10% - my bottle says 10% even though the listing here says 12%. Again as with most lambics/wild ales/sours, I'm left feeling that they're not really my thing.

375ml bottle, January 2016 stamped on the bottle, poured into a Crooked Stave snifter glass.
The beer pours a bright blood red color, beet and garnet hues, pink head, frothy and soapy with about a finger of height that has good retention and soapy lace. The aroma is good, strong blueberry skin, fleshy and tart berries, peppercorn, funky yeast, a bit of wine like vinous acidity, pale grain. The flavors are okay, nice berry flavors, light oakiness, red wine grape, peppercorn, strong belgian yeast and some moderate funk, light spice, tart citrus peel and some fusel alcohol. The mouthfeel is good, coating, lively medium body that is pretty smooth and has a tart but dry finish.
Verdict: A good wild ale from Crooked Stave. I was pretty shocked at how boozy this one turned out to be, doesn't hide it one bit, but despite that, the blueberries are front and center and the mixed fermentation comes across nicely as the funk is nicely developed and well integrated.

This bottle gently gushed upon opening, and had been sitting idle in a fridge for a good few months. The body is fully opaque mauve--they must have used a shit ton of blueberry puree--with a large, light pastel pink foam that retains permanently at about a half-finger.
Smell is oak and biscuit with a surprising note of phenolic spice that I'm not sure I remember getting from any other Crooked Stave sour, finishing with a blueberry wine aroma.
Taste is smoky, sour oak, sharply acidic malic blueberry with accents of lemon and green apple. At times I get impressions of balsamic vinegar, and some bitter fruit skin.
Body is medium thin but with an airy, mouth-filling froth. This one's sharply sour at times, with a semi-dry finish.

Blueberries and bacteria. Yummy. This bottle was a year and half old, but the fruit was still quite pronounced. Crooked Stave never lets down.
