Pours a hazy light golden orange with a decent size white frothy foam that faded pretty quickly leaving some spotty lacing on the glass.
Aromas begin with some slightly sweet biscuity malt, sourish wheat, light yeasty white pepper, straw and some oakiness. Hint of funk and some fruitiness emerges as it warms, but I had to search for them.
The tastes begin with a light sweet malt backbone to it, some juicy pear, paired with some light tartness. As it warms you get more of the barnyard, musty flavors with added dose of funk.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with medium to lowish carbonation. Finish is slightly off because of the low carbonation creating a smooth, almost creamy finish.

375 ml bottle, as Crooked Stave Surette Provision Saison Artisan Ale Aged in Oak Barrels, 2014 batch 13. ABV is 6.2%. At Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Slightly hazy golden colour, low white head of poor retention. Sourish aroma, strong notes of farmhouse, lemons, white wine vinegar and oak. Very sour and lemony flavour, medium dry, nearly like an unblended lambic, some oaky notes. Not a saison by any stretch of the mind.

Not sure why the bar I'm at listed this as a Saison, but glad I ordered it (even though it was $11 for a 10oz pour!)...
Great tart pull on the palate, with a little more subdued aroma. Leans toward the peach/apricot side of the tart world (vs lemon or apple)... Mouthfeel is low in carbonation, so good for the style. Good pucker on the finish. Very tasty overall, and glad I noticed it in the menu.
No beer is worth >$1/oz, but my shock at seeing a Crooked Stave in Charleston drew me in.
