Pour is dark brown with a lot of fluffy bubbly tan head. Nose is light with a some dark malts up front, roast and hint of chocolate, a fair amount of citrusy hops and light pine come in behind with a faint note leathery brett. Taste is different, malts are up front with a light roast and tobacco, strong leathery Brett with a piney resinous hop and thick syrupy body. Carbonation is a hint low and the finish has some juicy citrus with a slick feel down the throat. More like a black ipa.

750mL bottle poured into a snifter. Batch 7/12 Bottle #741/1531. Thanks for sharing Matt!
(A)- Pours almost totally black in color, but with some deep burnt sienna brown highlights. Some tan froth with good retention.
(S)- Quite dry overall, but with some lovely funky Brett and piney wood. Some subtle citrus at the end. Bready in a yeast sense.
(T)- Very complex actually. It is just barely soured but with some rustic dry Brett-like funk. You definitely get a very piney-like hop character in this still.
(M)- A good carbonation level to this. It is very complex, but almost too complex to quite know what it is trying to be.
(O)- Definitely something unique and complex with its earthy funk and tart flavors. I have not had this fresh, but definitely an interesting beer at this stage.

Appearance: Pours a coffee brown color capped by a large ecru head that gets rocky as it slowly fades, leaving plenty of lace on the tulip
Smell: Lemon, Spruce and a hint of barnyard
Taste: Opens with toasted brown bread base that is subsumed by lemony tartness; in the middle, both the Spruce and a touch of barnyard funk arrive; the finish is tart and tangy with just a touch of the malt
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; somewhat puckery
Overall: Not sure what this was like when first released (and I read some mixed reviews) but this has developed into a very nice beer (and I note the last few reviews have rated this much higher)
