Thanks trxxpaxxs for sharing this bottle

The beer pours a dark brown with flecks of ruby in the light and a thin tan head. The nose is potent and distinct - slightly molassesy with some acetone and funk. The taste is definitely a fully torqued sour with great acetone fruity ester sweetness. The mouthfeel is a light medium bodied, semi-dry, with a sour lingering aftertaste, but not as drinkable as I'd hoped for. This beer met my expectations for a crooked stave sour and was a tad different than many other sours.

Small bottle capped and waxed

Thanks to Mitch from Colo. for sending this one along.

Allowed to wrm up for about 30 mins and poured into a tulip.

Pours a rich shade of darker brown, dark tan head on the looser side, stays around for a short spell. Leaves some slippery thicker webs of lacing.

Lactic sourness on the nose, with some cherry and red wine flourishes.

Moderate pucker, funk, more cherry, and light smoky red wine notes.

Nice sour/wild. Complex sipper.

Batch #3. Dark fruit mahogany in color. Nice tart component but far from overbearing. A must try for dark saison\flanders\old bruin fans. Fantastic beer. Personally would just prefer more oak presence in a barrel aged offering. More oak in this would be lights out.

I had this on tap at Crooked Stave a few months back and loved it. I brought a bottle home to enjoy and cracked it last week. This review is from my notes. \r\n\r\nI poured the beer into a Chimay goblet. \r\n\r\nOrigins had a very thin head, but abundant lacing about the glass and atop the liquid. The beer\'s color is intriguing, dark brown with hues of rouge. \r\n\r\nIt certainly had a unique smell, with cherries hitting my nose immediately, sour/tart notes, then dried fruit and dark malt. I definitely get something on the nose that suggests a brown ale. \r\n\r\nThe taste is similar to the nose, as the cherry notes are still prominent, but some chocolate notes make their way in, as do other sour fruit hints and the brown roasted malts. \r\n\r\nAs you\'d expect, the beer is very tart, has a biting sourness that makes the mouth pucker, and is quite smooth. There\'s low carbonation, which adds to the smoothness.\r\n\r\nOverall, a tasty beer that certainly stands apart from your average everyday beer. I enjoyed it.

Lucked out with new tasting room schedule and visited on Sunday. guy working there was super friendly and really knew his stuff. He ended up giving us a tour to show us the new mega sized wine barrels they bought from wineries in NorCal. He also gave me some great recommendations for taprooms in Denver. Makes me wish I lived in Denver so I could join their club.

Now to the beer. I am a huge fan of Sours and the Burgundy Sour was impressive. Best Sour I have ever had outside of the Russian River collection. I have high expectations of this brewery as they expand operations. Hopefully this means more distribution towards the Pacific.
