Bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead stem. 2013 Spring bottling - Minneola Tangelo.

Pour: Hazy, radient orange juice with a finger and a half of tightly packed white head. Some lacing, and the head recedes to a rim. Really digging the color on this one.

Smell: Bright citrus juice up front... smells a lot like clementines. A juicy tropical brett. Some lemon pith. A light white and pink peppercorn.

Taste: Follows the nose with gently tart lemon and orange juice up front. Some light earthy brett mixes with more of the slight peppercorn from the nose. A touch of doughy sweetness. All the flavors here are delicate, and very well balanced. Finishes dry with bright brett.

Mouthfeel: Exceptionally drinkable and refreshing. The tangelos lend a bit of an acidic bite. Finishes quite dry.

Overall: Another awesome Crooked Stave offering. This was perfect for a warm day. Thanks Michael!

Appearance: Arrives with a hazy golden color capped by a frothy head that leaves some patchy lace

Smell: Somewhat funky, with wheat bread, lemon and spicy yeast tones

Taste: Lemon and Minneola Tangelo, up front; with tartness and funk building in the middle; peppery and slightly grainy, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A really nice Wit with a few twists that Crooked Stave knows how to deliver

2014 batch 1, purchased 24 June.

Pours hazy yellow, looks like a witbier. Nice head at first dissipates to nothing pretty quick, lace is non existent. Aroma is huge and odd. Smells funky, some orange blossom and black pepper, reminds me of salami oddly. Not a smell that makes me want to dive right in but I'm going to anyways. Moderate to high sourness. Moderate bretty funk. First thing I get in the taste is tangy, lemony citrus, has the same black pepper and cured meat undertones that I got in the nose. Body is medium, nice amount of carbonation and finishes dry. Overall, I don't care for this brew, I think it tastes and smells like meat and that is unappealing for me.

EDIT: after glancing through some other reviews I'm concerned that I might've got a bad bottle, no one else really mentioned meat haha, so take that for what it's worth.

2014/Batch 1; Hazy golden pour with no head and minimal lacing. Starts with a very bright pleasant natural citrus flavor and a rush of lactic acidity covering some bready malt backbone. I can't distinguish the malt after the first few sips due to the level of acidity - except in the aftertaste where some breadiness remains. The star of the show is the orangy citrus - it is almost juicy but never sweet. The beer is lightly carbonated and the effect is an effervescent, prickly mouthfeel. It works well with the citrus, acidity and light mouthfeel. Overall, this is a winner from Crooked Stave. Refreshing, drinkable, interesting (but not overly complex). If the bready malt could be cleaned up a little bit this would score higher.

A- Pours a hazy orange with a little fizzy head that quickly fades away, but leaves a nice little ring of bubbles.

S - Smells like SweetTarts. Bright, clean, with just a little musty funk.

T - Tastes very tart and citrusy. You definitely get the tangelo, along with plenty of lemon. I went into this thinking this was some sort of funky saison, but this is a full-out wild/sour. Again, very tart, with some juicy sweetness to balance it out, and a chalky finish. Nice touch of wheat body. Really bright and refreshing, but lacks some of the depth and nuance found in their WWB/Batch 60.

M - The tartness lends a prickly effervescense that's almost aggressive at first, attacking the back of your throat. Best taken in small sips. Very dry finish that lets the citrus and floral notes hang around and boogie for a while.

Overall, another winner from Crooked Stave that's kind of like a tamer version of WWB Batch 60. Still not for sour noobs.

Also, this beer is misclassified on this site. Although it may have a lot of wheat in its grain bill, it's a wild ale first and foremost, not a witbier.
