375ml capped bottle into Hill Farmstead stemware. Shared with schen9303.

Pours a small white head that dissipates quickly. Beer is a clear goldenrod. Lacing is spotty and sparse with little cling. Thin legs. Not much to look at really.

Nose is citrus and mint with a light funk presence. Pretty mellow.

Opens sweet and tart citrus, foam and oak. Brett funk comes in towards the middle imparting a plastic, cobweb and hay flavor. More puckering tartness towards the end with hints of mandarin orange and grapefruit. Delicious!

Light bodied with ample carbonation. Prickly and lively in the mouth and goes down foamy, crisp and refreshing. Accented finish with a filmy aftertaste. Really drinkable.

After encountering this for the first time, I definitely have to seek out the other seasons!

Date: 8/26/2014
Location: Astoria Beer and Cheese (Ditmars)
Glassware: Tulip

Appearance: Very thin short lived head. Opaque and very easy to see through. The color is slightly darker then yellow board earring on a honeyed color.
Aroma: The fruit is their to try and get you to pucker before you even try it. Strong lemon aroma, light oranges. Oak is strong flavor. Following that I get the yeast for added tartness. No hop aroma.
Taste: And pucker you absolutely do. The lemon kicks from the jaw to my teeth. Everything is tart. The orange moves more to the back. The yeast is added bitter but not quite as strong as the aroma led me to believe. The wheat comes through in the flavor as a hint bready/crackerish on the tongue. Again no hop presence.
Mouthfeel: Light body. Light carbonation. Between the fruit and the yeast the beer is extremely dry. Mouthwateringly so. Makes me (gladly) want to drink more. Finish remains dry until the very end.

St. Bretta is very opaque, especially when you near the bottom of the bottle. It's a dim, milky yellowish hue. The beer sports a head that is quick to pop away. Aroma is immediatley tart and funky. Smells of sour citrus. Also has a dry wheat aroma. He flavor is also pungently tart. Tart lemon flesh and unripe orange. Wheat. Grain. Tartness dominates. Light bodied. Didn't have full bottle to myself but it seemed quite drinkable; not as acidic as I was expecting. I haven't had much experience with this brewery. I know they're super popular and so far, I am impressed.

Via bottle.
