375ml bottle generously given by 4DAloveofSTOUT for me to try. Brian, you're the man! Poured into an unlabeled snifter today, 10/14/2013.

Pours a beautiful, hazy light orange body with an extremely effervescent head. It took a few minutes to fill up the whole glass because there was so, so much head. The head slowly recedes, leaving craploads of lacing all over the glass. Very pretty beer. Looks absolutely refreshing.

Smells great. Up front is this light, rubbery funk that I'm really enjoying. Then there's a nice quotient of hops. Mostly citrus and pine. So basically funk, rubber, orange zest, lemon juice, hint of pine.

Whoa, this beer is deceptively hoppy. Packs a nice, hoppy punch that you don't get as much of in the nose. Throughout there is a nice background of Bretty funk that persists into the aftertaste. In the middle there is a nice juicy citrus hoppiness that finishes with a nice orange peel bitterness along with the funk. Very interesting and (to me) enjoyable combination of hops and Brett.

The feel on this is outstanding. This is definitely a medium bodied beer but with such a light yet creamy mouthfeel because of the beer's effervescence. The brett really contributes a lot to this beer's particular characteristic. Aftertaste is mostly lemon zest with a hint of funk with a dab of pine.

Great flavour profile combining funk and hops with such a creamy mouthfeel on this beer. Thanks Brett. This being my first real Crooked Stave offering, I will have to see if I can score a couple more of their bottles to try. Thanks again Brian!

Batch 2, Centennial & Simcoe

Pours a hazy golden straw color, which is lighter at the bottom and more golden at the top. The egg shell colored head is huge and pillowy, almost meringue like.

The aroma is tart and oaky. Big lemon twang. White grapes with a subtle hint of vinegar. There is some pepper and general spice.

The taste is tart and oaky as well. Again, big lemon and white grape flavor. Slightly grassy with a mix of pepper. Not much from the malt, slight bready flavor.

The feel is light and bright with airy carbonation. Sweet and tart on the palate. Good balance and drinks very easy.

A nice tart pale ale. The hops don't really pop but the oak sure does. Worth a purchase.

Batch 3, 2013 Simcoe and Centennial Hops
Bitter and sour do not belong together.
Looks: pale, not much head, dies quickly. bottle frothed over when opened
smell: deliciously fruity, from both yeast and hops. additional hop dankness. Slight medicinal funk
taste: Bitter and sour and medicinal. couldn't finish bottle.
Overall: I love Crooked Stave and will definitely buy them again, Surette and St Bretta are both amazing beers but i didnt enjoy this one and dont feel it was worth $10
