bottle picked up locally enjoyed from my crooked stave snifter. brew poured a murky honey orange with a thin fizzy head. smell is dominated with fresh flowers. lots of Brett and lots of oak. taste slaps you in the face with funkiness. the Brett and the ok complement each other nicely but the pale ale beneath its an odd mix. it will be interesting to see what happens to this one over time. soft carbonation and relatively easy drinker aside from the plasticy Brett. definitely on interesting mix and combination for a beer. but its history tells us anything it's that crooked stave knows what they're doing. it really is a nice beer once your palate gets adjusted to the crazy flavor combo.

edit...had the galaxy version of this one (not sure why no unique listing) but damn, that one is AMAZING

375mL bottle from LambicPentameter (thanks man!). 2013/ Batch 2. Served in a goblet.

Pours an opaque golden straw with four fingers of frothy pale head. The bubbles slowly recede to a cap that leaves large sheets of lace.

Smells funky. Horse blanket, sweaty barn, hay and mild citrus.

The nose wasn't lying. Hay, tart grass, sweat, dirt, lemon, peach fuzz and a hint of salt.

Light body that is highly carbonation. Finishes dry, tart and funky with citrus peel, earth and souring hay.

This is a brett bomb for sure but not offensive. I wouldn't mind trying a fresh one sometime to see if any of the hops mentioned in the name were ever apparent in the flavor.

375ml bottle in Sam Adams glass
date: 2013/batch 2

A: a pretty beer, crystal clear, golden color, almost perfect white head, great lacing
S: Earth and citrus, a little tartness, no obvious hops
T: A wave of tartness in front followed by the classic brett funk/dirt. The hops are well hidden, there is some citrus notes (I assume from the hops, but it could be acid from the yeast).
M: Very crisp and dry, although not bone dry like some brett beers, lots of carbonation
O: Not what I was expecting, this comes across much more as a "standard" brett beer vs a 100% brett beer. The funk is much more apparent than I expected and the acidity is pretty high. I wonder if this is the brett showing its age (getting more funky) and the hops have faded. Still, this is a very good beer and very unique. I would buy this again with out hesitation, would like to find a fresher bottle to compare. Highly recommended.

This batch is centennial and simcoe. I don't get any distinct notes from either hop. I get some lemon rind bitterness and light tartness. This beer is a Brett bomb. Huge carb and loads of funk like an open field. It's not as refined as something like Lost Abbey Saint's Devotion but similar in style. It is different and interesting, but the flavors almost cancel each other out.

Light and clean. Golden with a bit of haziness. Strong carbonation, but fitting with the style. Oak and sour fruit aroma. Oak and passion fruit front and middle. Light bodied. Very clean finish virtually no bitterness in the finish. A very approachable sour, think of a cross between a sour and a chardonnay. Bottle marked 426.

Bottle shared by Curran at his tasting.

Bottled sometime in the fall of 2013.

Pours a rustic looking orange color, with a one inch head, and a good amount of lacing down the glass.

Smells quite funky and barnyard-y, with some lemony citrus and grass.

The taste is similar. At this age, a little bit less than a year old, the Brett has taken over, so it doesn't taste very hoppy anymore (I don't know hoppy it was when first bottled, so can't make a true comparison here, but I'm guessing it was at least somewhat hoppy). Lots of bracing Brett flavors, slightly tart (not sour) with some lemon, hay, and lots of funk. There's a bit of orange and pineapple flavors as well. Slightly cider-like, too.

Fairly light bodied, this one goes down very easily. It's spritzy, with some good carbonation as well.

I'd like to try this fresh, but this is still a very tasty and well done wild Brett beer.
