Appearance - Very light straw yellow. head leaves quickly as well

Smell - Subtle sweetness with very little tart. Lots of pineapple

Taste - tart acidity and fruit that is quickly followed by some type of chemical

Mouth - that chemical taste does not leave

Overall - I have had CS multiple times and I finally found a chemical bomb. just horrible. I had it on tap and it was amazing, but this bottle did not age well. I will go back to Crooked Stave soon though

375mL bottle poured into a tulip. 2013 Batch #3

(A)- Pours a cloudy goldenrod color that produced a decent frothy white head. Good retention.

(S)- Bone dry with plenty of grassy barnyard Brett funk. Hints of orange and lemon peel.

(T)- Not quite as dry as the smell, but just as funky. Plenty of zesty but bitter orange, almost grapefruit-like.

(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. Slightly sweet yet bitter with the awesome Brett funk.

(O)- Easily a great witbier with the Brett addition to mix it up. A good level of funkiness with the zesty citrus brings a nice feel to the beer overall.

Pours a cloudy lemon yellow into my Bruery tulip. A thin fluffy white head disappears quickly and leaves no lacing anywhere on the glass. Not a bubble of carbonation. This beer lies completely flat and still.
Lemon juice, orange peel, touches of black pepper and toasted oak. Not overly funky but the bit of horse blanket and barnyard blend nicely with the tart lemon/citrus notes. Again, nothing to dynamic, but pleasing.
Tart fresh squeezed lemon juice, little notes of peppercorns, dried orange peel, yeasty barnyard funk, and bits of caramel toasted oak. Not a ton of depth, but not a one note solo either.
Very tart and lemony! Not a bit of spakle on the tongue. Just kind of flat and uninspired.
I had really high hopes for this, but it was kind of a let down. Not as much funk as I'd hoped for, no sparkle whatsoever, and fairly bland for a bottle that cost $8.99. This was o.k. but nothing I'll be seeking out again.
