Amber, almost a light brown color. Beige head, a lot.
The smell is peculiar for a weizen. Citrus fruits, chinotto, breadcrust, and yeast.
In the taste the weizeness of this beer is more evident, with notes of a not too sweet ripe banana. Light caramel. Quite bitter, also, for a weizen. Again, citrus fruit, and even bitter roots.
Peculiar, and pleasant.
A good bitterness in the aftertaste, with a starting caramel, then hop and roots, and then again caramel. Well balanced.
Good beer, and original.

A - Quite a beautiful opaque orange body with finger hight white head.
S - Very malty (strange for a hefe), average yeast aroma for the style and very spicy and sweet aromas.
T - For all the sweet aroma, this beer is particularly dry. Not very complex at all, but the typical wheat yeastyness.
M - Larger than average wheat body, but nice and smooth.
D - Pleasant, but for one of my favorite breweries, a let down.

Xan is a new beer from Weihenstephan witch is brewed so that as most as possible Xantuhumol gets in the botle so it can do good for your body. Strange that it became a Weizenbeer cause all lectures at at Weihenstephan Technological Seminar said it was best done in a dark beer and figures showed figures that it was that way. Probably marketing has come into Weihenstephan too and said it had to be a weizen cause that would sell better.
Anyway back to the beer. Pours in fine with good head thats lasting well. brown but very palish color cause off enormous amounts of yeast. Nose is sour, wheat, sweetmaltycaramel and yeastestery with mostly bananna. Hops in there too but not dominant.
Taste is weizenlike; malty with litle sourness of the used wheat, well bodied, sweet and not as bitter as espected cause of that I should have lots of Xantohumol.
Lots of carbon dioxide and full taste work negative on drinkability but an enjoyable beer.
