Single bottle (has a code, but not a date code I could interpret) poured into a weizen glass without disturbing the sediment at the end.

Appearance: Golden yellow hazy color with lots of bubbles coming up through the beer. Huge head that settles down to form and eggshell white foam with lots of lacing.

Smell: A bit musty, some hints of banana in there, but not as appealing in the glass smell-wise as it was when I cracked the bottle.

Taste: Apples and white grape, muted malt, and some of that classic German wheat beer tastes. Grapes stronger towards the end.

Mouthfeel: While the carbonation is quite obvious from looking at the beer, in the mouth it's not strong at all. Very smooth, quenching, and coating of the mouth all at the same time. Quite nice.

Drinkability: Went very well with a meal (Chicken cacciatore) and I'm thinking one 500ml bottle is enough for an evening. Not my favorite Weizenbock but it is good and I think it has potential to work well with a lot of other food. I'm wondering though if I stirred up the sediment and drank that too if my experience would be better. I've had Germans tell me this is the thing to do, and others tell me I'm nuts to do it. But I do notice a taste difference between the two routes so I'll have to try it again.

A: copious effervescence, cloudy dark straw colour with good white foam

S: all the classic phenols, cloves, banana, citrus and of course yeast

T: at first sip, tastes like a top grade hefeweizen, banana and vanilla flavour with clean finish

M: just the right amount of carbonation to provide some astringency to prevent this fairly sweet beer from becoming cloying -

O: probably one of the best weizenbocks I've ever had (either this is an excellent beer, or I need to drink more of this genre . . . yes.)

Excellent price point for the quality of this beer, Would definitely put this on rotation as a go to Spring/summer beer.

A - 4.5 - Nice golden yellow color with a big white head on it that sticks just about forever.
S - 4.75 - You can literally smell it from arms length. Banana, vanilla yogurt, orange, white pepper, wheat bread in the background. It's so fresh and good.
T - 4.75 - Banana, wheat, fruity yogurt, bubble gum. This is a pretty ridiculously good beer, esp for the price.
M - 4.5 - Light - medium, alc covered, aftertaste is banana bread.
O - 4.75 - This beer has so much potential to be sickeningly sweet and cloying but it completely avoids that and blends all the flavors of a German bock beer in a way that's so good, you'll never want to touch an American wheat beer again.

Bottle to Weizen glass-

A - Rich, golden, and inviting with slight carbonation. Rich white two finger head and deep cloudy body.

S - Fruity and flowery aromas all around.

T - Not quite as light as a hefeweizen--has a more pronounced alcohol flavor but is very balanced. Still get some of that sweet, biscuity, banana type flavor on the back end.

M - Rich mouthfeel with just enough carbonation. Sweet/biscuity flavor lingers on the palate.

O - Outstanding. While I do enjoy a hefeweizen, this style and beer are more up my alley. A bit more bite, but well balanced. A must try.
