Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 15C adapted to light color bock). Bottle 50 cl - Batch unknown. AROMA: sweet wheat aromas mixed with vanilla and some faint banana. no hop aromas. some alcohol. APPEARANCE: gold color and hazy. large moussy white head with good retention. TASTE: sweet vanilla flavour, mixed with a strong wheat presence. very low bitterness with a relative dry finish. PALATE: medium body with moderate carbonation. OVERALL: a very interesting variation of the traditional weizen bock style, which uses a dunkelweizen.

Appearance- Beautiful golden yellow color with haziness and plenty of visible carbonation.

Aroma- Strong aromas of fruity banana and dry wheat, but really nothing else.

Taste- Up front dry wheat and sharp hit of carbonation snap on the tongue which is furthered by spicy hop flavors as well. Towards the middle the flavors develops into fruitier banana/orange flavors. In the finish the malt and carbonation settle down and become much more softer and sweeter malt, almost a caramel sweetness but very subtle. Definitely a little booze noticeable in the beginning of the beer, which I think the carbonation brings out.

Feel- Very, very carbonated which becomes a bit distracting and annoying. Thw malt towards the end is really soft and lightens up the beer. At nearly 8% this is quite smooth, but there is some very slight alcohol heat that lets reminds one of the strength of the beer.

Overall- This is a really interesting beer, and undoubtedly the most complex German beer I've had (in my minimal experience with German beers). Some of the typical wheat and banana flavors from a hefeweizen, but the malt has more layers to it, starting off dry and switching to softer/sweeter malt flavors. The carbonation settles down as this warms up which adds points for me, and booze pretty much disappears with warmth too. Definitely a beer I'd revisit, but I'd probably prefer the classic weihenstephaner hefe the majority of times over this. (91/100)

0.5 l bottle (bb 14.07.15) into a weizen glass. Cloudy gold color, ample white foam, ok retention, leaves a one cm head, minimal lacing. Smell has tart wheat, fresh lemon and sweet banana.

The taste begins with tart grainy wheat and banana from the yeast with a hint of lemon and honey in the background, quite sweet. The end is dry and spicy with clove and pepper, leaving a spicy and lemony aftertaste. No alcoholic taste, very refreshing. Medium-light body, high carbonation and creamy mouthfeel.

Overall a very flavorful weizen that hides it's strength well, drinkable, refreshing and flavorful. I could easily have had another one if there would have been more in my fridge. Will surely have this one again.

Poured from a bottle into a weizen glass.
Appearance - gold, bubbly, a bit foggy. A huge plume, white head. Lacing is almost nonexistent; will try again in a pub or pint glass.
Smell - lemon zest, banana, some orange.
Taste - banana, lemon, honey. A very palatable brew!
Feel - the best part of this beer. Surprisingly creamy. Incredibly easy to drink!
Overall - a beer that should please any palate!

Passionfruit the color
Forces spice and pleasant banana
The bubbles that are laced
Never to dissipate
The finish never ends

A: Light gold with a little bit of haze. Holy crap that’s a lot of carbonation, a super well-retained head, almost frustratingly so cuz I want to pour more than 4 oz of beer into my pint glass. (3/3)
S: Heaven, I believe, would smell a bit like this. The wheaty spice is omnipresent: a little bit of clove and pepper, with some subtle fruity notes too, like red grape or banana. (10/12)
T: Starts crisp and finishes sweet, but the aftertaste comes in waves: banana, pepper, white bread. (18/20)
M: The bubbles were already mentioned, and they are quite powerful. A medium dryness across the whole tongue on finish. (5/5)
O: More. More. Give me more of this beer. The strength of alcohol is not very perceptible in contrast to the Hefeweissbier by the same brewery, but the strength of spice certainly is. I could really drink this every day. It’s so satisfying. (9/10)
