I was expecting a darker beer when I poured into my glass but Vitus is a hazy golden yelloe color.
A bright white head forms on the pour which is quite tall. The dense and stiff head lingers for a good while and actually never really melts away but instead lingers as a dense and thick collar.

The nose is big and bold in the hefeweizen tradition but not much more. Yeasty esters of banana and cloves and a sweet malty aroma are present.

The flavor is big and bold with ripe bananas and cloves. The sweet malts gives a silky feel.
The feel on the palate is light and refreshing. Perfect carbonation enhances the feel.
Very easy to drink . I like that as I approach the end, the beer is still flavorful. Some hefe's tend to wash out or go flat as they warm. A very good beer.

330ml bottle, marked "9343," poured into a hefeweizen serving glass. I'm watching the Maple Leafs and the Penguins play as I review this.

A - Beatiful, hazy straw color with a light, airy white head of about a half inch. Not sure how it could look any nicer.

S - A mix of fresh baked dough, banana, and a buttery yeast. A little peppery, a little "bottle-y."

T - It tastes like it smells. There's a bready, doughy quality at first, and as it goes down a little peppery and "bottle-y." Some cloves. Finishes with some great maltiness, almost overwhelming.

M - Rich, velvety mouthfeel, still providing a little bit of "bite" with the pepper.

Overall I would call this a great Weizenbock, in my little experience with the style. Doesn't get much better than this for a drinkable beer with an above average alcohol content. Truly a testament to the brewing practices of Germany.
