Hazy dark orange color. Fluffy, stark white head of 3-4 fingers. Retention is epic.

Aroma of banana, clove, bready wheat notes and a slight spice note.

Clove, spices and banana mingle with a wheaty taste and a slight bitter finish.

Feel is light, but its velvety smooth with a touch of crispness.

In the end, Its apparent that no one does German beer like Weihenstephaner.

Had this on 2011-12-31 in Columbia, PA

A - Cloudy straw with a 1-finger white head and decent lace.

S - Banana, clove, bread, yeast. Pretty strong and nice.

T - Starts bready, morphs through banana, bread, pear, clove, touch of lemon, light alcohol and finishes a bit tart and peppery. Very tasty.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Smooth, bubbly and

O - This is a first-rate Weizenbock. A lot going on in the flavors from start to finish and still well-balanced.

Pours a lovely orange-hued wheat gold. Very good head and carbonation. It has the wheat beer aroma you'd expect, but the alcohol intensifies it. The higher ABV also contributes to the crisp spiciness. Vitus is delicious. I've had Weihenstephaner Hefe a few times already and have yet to review it, though it is a must-try classic. You can tell Vitus is made by the same craftsmen, but the flavor explosion is just a step above, especially good for special occasions. Weihenstephaner is easily one of my favorite breweries - the lager and wheat exceptionally good and sessionable, and the Vitus and Korbinian outstanding for showing how simple ingredients can turn into a thing of pure magic.

Poured from bottle.

Poured straw yellow but finished slightly cloudy with yeast sediment. Nice meringue-ish head that fell shortly after. Lacing has been minimal throughout.

Smell was the standard yeasty-wheat I would expect from Weihenstephan. A slight peppery aroma poked around as well.

The wheat malt stood out over any hops but didn't overpower. The residual sweetness was pleasant and any sign of noble hops was absent. The yeasty pepper-ness, almost similar to a Belgian Wit came through on the end, just as in the aroma.

Perfect carbonation with medium body and crisp easy finish.

This is the type of beer you would ask "noch eins bitte!" Perfect anytime of year, session or with food.

Cellared bottle BBE 8 Sept 2010

50cl poured into Weihenstephan glass

A- cloudy medium blonde with a creamy 4 finger head sitting on top. Retention and lacing still very good

S- clove, hint of spice, woodiness, hint of butteriness

T- classic clove flavour up front with a diminished malt strength in the medium finish. Hint of butter again

M- moderate carbonation and body

D- still retains the classic Weissbier characteristic but unfortunately the malty bock quality has subdued to be replaced by a slight buttery quality in the finish. Experiment complete, not one to cellar but probably knew that anyway!

On-tap at the Distiller in Savannah, GA.

Pours a cloudy gold with a thin white head that fades to a thin ring. Big aromas of banana, clove, wheat, and honey. Taste follows the nose closely, very banana-forward. Mouthfeel is smooth and slightly creamy, with a touch-over-medium body and lowish carbonation. Overall a great beer, high-watermark for the style.
