A - Towering soapy white head caps the golden body, lighter in colour than their hefe. Lacing looks good for a few seconds but doesnt stick for long.

S - All banana, wheat and clove. I just love these aromas. Yeasty too.

T - Follows the nose with the typical banana, wheat and clove flavours. Some caramel like malt sweetness and some warmth from the alcohol. Just delicious.

M - Thinner and less chewy than their glorious hefe. High carbonation. Clean mouthfeel.

O - Another beautifully crafted and full flavoured gem from Weihenstephan. A must try for any beer lover.

Poured from a bottle into a schooner. No obvious best before date on the bottle.

A - light yellow and cloudy. Big fluffy white head of a few fingers that slowly (a few minutes) dissipates leaving some chunky lacing behind. Paler than I would expect; enticing!

S - big yeasty and grainy nose; lots of wheat in there. Surprisingly powerful and earthy. Really lovely nose on this.

T - big flavor that matches the nose very well; very slight bitterness with a hint of sour that permeates the beer until you're walloped with a massive wheat and yeast profile (almost a vegetable quality to it - it's so solid). After the flavors fade a combined bitter/sourness permeates.

M - quite light, but with solid carbonation - super thirst quenching.

D - no hint whatsoever of the relatively large alcohol profile. Easy drinker for sure.

Really solid and delicious. Highly recommended.

A: Poured a pale orange with a swirling display of effervesce, rapid bursts that rose in a dense shower. The head was glass consuming, a foamy pearl white sheen, 3 fingers high that stood is ground quite proudly. Thick foamy patches cover the glass for lace.

S: Musky damp cellar notes, wet whole wheat, ripe whole banana skins, and some yeasty moments of light to moderate intentions.

T: The flavor was sweet and malty, toasty liquid bread upfront, some musky lemon and wheat moves in. A touch of dry spicy cloves, dry bananas and a slight peppery instance on the fade. Toasty sweet grain base, almost octoberfest like, dry wheat mixture, with a sweet finish.

M: creamy with a bubbly carbonation. Toasty sweet on the hold with a light body and playful nature on the tongue.

O: Overall a good flavor, a bit more sweet and toasty then im used to per style. Smooth yeasty nature, not overpowering, but easily manageable. Alcohol is easily hidden by its sweetness. Cleanly brewed as with all their drinks with a smooth refinement.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass at low altitude.

A: Pours a hazy yellow with a two-finger white head, but doesn't come with a lot of lacing.

S: Prominent wheat, coriander and cloves notes with a hint of banana esters in the background.

T: Great balance of wheat an coriander up front, with banana notes to balance on the finish. Very nice overall, and basically reminds me of a stronger version of Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen.

M: Medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel. Nothing too exciting, but appropriate for the style.

D: As far as I can tell, this one is a bit more rare than some other Weihenstephan brews, but one that's definitely worth trying if you have access.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle into a goblet.

A - Beer is a golden-orange color, hazy but lets plenty of light through. The head is thick and fluffy and white, made of tiny bubbles.

S - Aroma is of grainy wheat with some bubblegum and a hint of lemon.

T - The taste is a smooth blend of wheat and yeast characteristics. There is mouth-filling wheat and malt along with plenty of bubblegum and banana and even some noble hops flavor. The finish is very sweet.

M - The body is heavy, but the carbonation and a moderate amount of hops bitterness help cut through it. The alcohol is evident. The aftertaste is sweet and a bit cloying.

O - This is a nice wheat beer. It has a big, heavy body that the taste and appearance don't quite match up with. It is the lightest-colored weizenbock I've seen and I would prefer the extra malt that goes along with the darker interpretations.

Poured the 16.9oz bottle into my Weizen glass. Like most Weihenstephaner products, the presentation of this beer is amazing with a brown and gold label.

A: intriguing glowing opaque golden/amber color with some carbonation in its body. A beautiful foamy and spongy four finger head that was glowing white decorated the top of my Weizen glass and lasted for quite a bit. Decent ornamental lacing left throughout the glass.

S: a beautiful combination of wheat, banana, fruit salad, sweet malts greet your nose and cordially invite you to try this beer. The aforementioned aromas are very well balanced and just about right in terms of intensity.

T: this beer tastes like a Hefeweizen but with a whole lot more flavor 'packed' in. As soon as you take a sip your palate will feel and enjoy an exuberant combination of wheat (predominant taste), banana, hoppy touches, sweet malts, sweet cereals, caramels, spicy cloves and ends with a slight bitterness that is never offensive and actually adds to the experience. This is the perfect example of how a beer can pack a great number of flavors and balance them in such a way that ends up being an enjoyable experience.

M: very smooth and drinkable, medium body and medium carbonation. The alcohol level is disguised fairly well.

O: this is it ladies and gentleman... Bayerische Weihenstephan has come up with an impeccable formula on how a beer should be made. This beer excels in pretty much every category and makes for an amazing experience. Even better, this beer is fairly accessible so it must be part of your fridge at all times. The excellent combination of flavors/aromas make up for an incredible experience that it's really hard to describe unless you try this beer. Highly recommended and definitely worthy of a 'world class' nomenclature, at least in my opinion!

Weihenstephaner Vitus is a weizenbock with a fairly overpowering banana flavour. I didn't love it.

A: Cloudy yellow orange colour and a big 1 cm head that lasts very well. 5

S: Wheaty tang along with yeast and maybe a hint of banana. 4

T: Wheaty with some banana esters and breadiness. There is a slight acid sourness. Too much banana for my liking. 3.5

Poured from tap into pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy yellow/golden straw color, pours about an inch of head, with moderate lacing.

Smell: Wheat, hops, citrus, bananas, cloves.

Taste: Wheat malt, hops, citrus, bananas, figs and very estery.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, crisp, good carbonation.

Overall: German beers tend to be too sweet/malty for my tastes, but as far as weizenbocks go, this was very drinkable.

Appearance
The head on this beer is just simply stunning. No other beer comes close to this. The density of the foam is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Retention and lacing are also amazing. The beer is much lighter than I expected. Its a pretty hazy gold color, adding the yeast at the bottom of the bottle makes the beer take on a white characteristic.

Aroma
Huge bouquet of cloves and esters. This is awesome. A good portion of banana, but not like their hefeweisse. Some lovely fruity stuff comes along with the bananas; kiwi and strawberry.

Taste
Lots of banana, this is a yeasty, estery son of a bitch. Clove is very strong as well as a very sweet apple-like flavor. Chalky, earthy yeast is prominent, much like a Belgian strong pale. This isn't a light beer by any stretch, but the flavors are juicy, refreshing and relaxing.

Mouthfeel
Fluffy carbonation fills the mouth with a softness that is quite nice. The body can stand its own, it is pretty full. Alcohol is noticeable, but only just in the back of your head.

Overall
A wonderful creation. After picking up 3 different bottles of Weinhenstephaner recently, and not drinking anything by them for a long time, my love for German styles is rekindled. Why, oh why have American brewers been trying to "Belgianize" their beers? They should be "Germanizing" them. This beer is a case in point. Here's hoping for some "Deutscher Barleywines" in the coming year.

Poured from bottle into fluted pint glass during German hefeweizen and weizen tasting I arranged at home.

Pours with one of the biggest and most annoyingly persistent heads I've ever encountered from a bottled beer (and a weizenbock of all things)! Fades slowly to a delicate eggshell lace. A light amber hue with golden highlights, slightly cloudy with a few floaters. Lighter than expected, but still very pretty.

Nose is amazing but not quite as in your grill as their hefeweizen. Lots of wheat and yeast up front with a subtle baking spice component, some vegetal notes (pleasant), and mild Bavarian malts/hops. Really get that faint banana and clove thing, but on refreshing the nose with a quick smell of the hefe-weissbier and going back to the Vitis shows how subtle the clove and banana really are.

Palate is good, less grip and intensity of flavor than expected. More clove than anything, some banana and fig. Very pleasant but less intense than I was hoping.

Palate is rather light and thin for a weizenbock. But the balance is impressive. Really fine acidity here. Grip is lacking though, but the finish is medium long and enjoyable. Really nice carbonation.

Overall a very good wheat brew, but a little thinnner and lighter than expected from a weizenbock. But this is still a stunner and I plan on stocking up (for $3.50 a bottle!!!) with this and their hefe-weissbier.

16.9 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance-Pale golden with a medium cast of haze-a bit lighter in color than i expected. Giant, moussy, dense white head with good retention.

Aroma-Ripe bananas, clove spice, and rich bready/toasty character. Some plum character which increases as it warms. Peppery, somewhat floral alcohols. Aroma is a bit bigger than the standard Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, but really only in terms of alcohol content-I don't get a ton of melanoidin character that I would expect out of a weizenbock.

Flavor-Bready/toasty character upfront with some banana, plum/raisin character, and a spirtz of clove in the background. Much more toasty malt character here than in the aroma, but still a bit short of what I would look for in a weizenbock. Peppery alcohols grow in the background, drying out the flavor.

Mouthfeel-Medium full mouthfeel with moderately high carbonation. Medium low alcohol warmth.

A think this is a fantastic beer, but not necessarily a great weizenbock. There's not quite enough melanoidin development in the aroma and flavor to put it quite in the category, but it's still damn tasty.

15 ounce bottle, served cold in St Bernardus glass challis

A) Hazy bright bronze comes alive quickly with billowy white head. Plenty of carbonation, head settles to white lacy stratus

S) Deliciously sweet. Banana, raisons & clove dominate with mild alcohol despite strong content

T) Classic Heffe only better. Complex & yeastie with sweet caramel, banana, figs & pear.

M) Thick and rich. Lots of fine carbonation that lasts and lasts. Sticky sweet.

O) An excellent example of this classic German style

Served on draught into a hefeweissbier glass at Ma Che in Roma, Italy. Reviewed from notes. I'd previously had it out of the bottle.

A: A two and a half finger head of slight soft cream, fair thickness, and average (~2 minute) retention. Cloudy dark copper colour.

Sm: Heavy orange peel, lemon, cream, and barley. A moderate strength aroma.

T: Orange and lemon peel, moderately full barley, and nice cream. Complex enough, but a touch watery. Built alright. Kind of balanced.

Mf: Too smooth, too wet. Classic fallacy. Doesn't really complement or feel tailored to the flavours of the body.

Dr: Easy drinking, high ABV for the style and a high price (4 euro for a half pint!). Decent quality, but a bit dirty. Perhaps the tap needed cleaning?

Poured from 16.9 oz into Weizen glass.

A - Wow, a huge three finger head immediately formed on top of the pale golden translucent liquid. Head retention was insane, with a foamy small bubble layer that disappated only with plenty of time.

S - A beery lager scent, with a pale malt aroma and some very light yeasty esters, but all in all not wowed by the nose.

T - The flavor definitely improved upon the scent. An initial pale malty taste, that is followed by some light grassy hoppiness, and smoothed over by a yeast quality that adds the perfect compliment of spiciness.

M - A crisp mouthfeel that leaves a bit of dryness afterwards. Booze is noticeable upin first sip, but hides well as the beer warms.

O - A solid offering, a bit lighter than I had anticipated, but the yeastiness seemed to salvage its taste when I was initially concerned upon the less than stellar aroma.

S - Citrus, clove, and bread yeast dominate.

T - Tastes of clove and yeast, with some lemony citrus in the back end. Banana esters arrive later on and linger for a while.

M - Light body, lots of carbonation. Dries out in the end.

O - Overall quite good. Very similar to the hefe, but breadier and more intense. Maybe a bit too citrus-forward, but a wonderful beer overall.

Cloudy yellow with tinges of orange. Forms a massive, foamy white head that has excellent retention.

Large banana presence with lots of citrus and cloves. Bread also features and overall this is a nice herbal aroma. Some minor hints of alcohol too.

Solid banana & clove taste to this one upfront that is perfectly balanced.Good overall sweetness & the taste is clean with no trace of alcohol.

Medium bodied & with a smooth, creamy texture that is quite clean & crisp. Nice dryness to the finish.

An excellent wheat beer, it has a solid, well balanced flavour and some good banana notes that work well to mask the high abv.

Poured into a snifter.

Pours with a bright and cloudy polished gold color under a pure white fluffy head. Tiny streams of bubbles rise to replenish the head.

This beer greets the nose with the characteristic yeast bite trio of clove, banana and coriander. Wonderful spiciness with some mellow wheat notes underneath.

Whoa. This beer is like a normal hefe with some serious power infused into it. There isn't really any alcohol flavor, but its lends weight to the usual German wheat beer flavors. One can feel the kick as this goes down. Awesome.

The mouthfeel is heavier than a usual wheat beer, but it also has even higher carbonation. The result is a prickly powerhouse of yellow beer.

Conclusion: This is an awesome beer from one of the best breweries on this planet. This beer didn't blow my mind as many of their others have, but it impressed me as usual. This is like their normal wheat on steroids, my only complaint is that it lacks the outstanding luster and sparkle of flavor that the normal wheat has...

Cloudy golden/straw-colored, really big, fluffy head that lasts the whole way. No lacing, really.

Smells of banana, clove and decent citrus. A strong "weizen"-type yeasty aroma.

Taste is full of the flavors in the nose as well as some malty sweetness. Pretty smooth and fruity in flavor. Good for the style.

Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth and makes you realize this is a sturdy beer, not a light, crisp summer wheat.

Overall this is really good for the style. I like the smoothness of the yeasty flavors.

What a tasty wheat beer. Layers of the typical banana but seems to have more of a citrus character to it than most big wheats. Pours with a pillowy white lasting head, nice cloudy appearance.
