a - poured a four-fingers thick white head into a weizen glass. the head was dense, rocky, billowy and long-lasting that left thick lacing and sheeting throughout. the body was a bright golden color with tons of bubbles.
s - big banana and clove aromas balanced out by wheat.
t - clove, wheat, bananas and other fruits.
m - this is stupendous. medium thickness and velvety smooth with a crisp finish.
o - first time having vitus and i'll be seeking it out again. so drinkable and flavorful. the mouthfeel is as good as it gets.

Appearance: Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a hazy straw with a two-finger head made of fine foam. Visible carbonation. Beautiful to look at.

Aroma: A lot of banana, some clove spiciness, some bready smells. Smells substantial, if that makes any sense.

Taste: Banana is there but less noticeable. Wheaty sweetness gives way to an estery and just ever so slightly alcoholic spiciness. Flavors blend together very smoothly. I can taste the slightly higher alcohol content but it really heightens the other flavors instead of detracting.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, light carbonation. Medium bodied. I definitely prefer wheat beers that have some substance to the more watery examples.

Overall: Really excellent beer. As far as I'm concerned, Weihenstephaner makes the best wheat beers in the world.

Transparent golden color with a mountainous, frothy head. Exceptional retention and plenty of stick to the glass.

Brilliant and complex aroma of citrus, mint leaves, fresh flowers, ginger, nutmeg, wheat grains nicely coupled against a spicy, Belgian-like yeast aroma. Very interesting.

Flavor follows the nose for the most part. Smooth wheat malt flavor. Spicy ginger and citrus notes add a nice contrast. Hint of yeast.

Smooth medium body with plenty of wheaty texture on the tongue. Ample carbonation.

As far as wheat beers go, this is one of the best there is!

Appearance: Although it takes up nearly the entire glass when first poured, the white head is light and foamy, lending itself to the effervescent nature of this style. The color is far lighter than I had expected. It is a nice lemon yellow, with the typical wheat beer haze.

Smell: Lemon, bubblegum, and mint make for an interesting, yet not entirely tempting, combo. The possible sugary zest of this bouquet is counterbalanced by the toasty Munich malt typical for the style.

Taste: Lemons are replaced by bananas, while airy notes of mint and bubblegum manage to hang on. The maltiness goes head-to-head with the esters, making for a somewhat strange, yet interesting combination...kind of like a banana sandwich on multigrain bread.

Mouthfeel: The medium mouthfeel is thickened by the wheat and yeast. Carbonation is characteristically medium-high and does a good job making the beer both filling and spritzy.

Overall: A beer which, for me, is swimming in dichotomies. The flavors don't seem to mix all that well, but the toasted malt going up against the esters is both true to style and worth witnessing if you haven't had this type of beer before. A beer that could grow on me. I would certainly like to try it again further down the road.
