I really think this one deserves a better rating on here. Right when you're drinking all these sweet, malty pumpkin/Oktoberfest/marzen style beers, this one pops up and punches you in the mouth with clean, crisp refreshment.
Pours a brilliant straw gold with a finger of fluffy white head. Light to moderate lacing as you drink it down. A good looking beer.
Next major impression is the smell, which is slightly skunky in that Heineken sort of way. That's the only place this beer stumbles, but that's almost to be expected from this style of pale lager.
Taste is super fresh and clean - lemongrass, straw, melon and a floral effervescence. There's a perfectly sweet malt backbone that justifies the beer being named an Oktoberfest. This is cloaked in a well executed noble hop profile that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Overall, this beer drinks more like a very good pilsner, and offers a nice reprieve from the more conventional Oktoberfest style beers this time of year.
