The nose on this beer smells like a standard German pilsner; there are malts and a large lager smell. The beer is a light yellow? It has a cm head and decent retention. This is really an Oktoberfest? There is a nice big fruitiness to the beer that comes through; the beer is crisp and dry. It's probably closer to a pilsner than an Oktoberfest. It has an okay flavour, but I just don't think it does a very good job as a pilsner nor an Oktoberfest. The mouthfeel is okay. All around, I find the lager bite to be the most prominent in the beer rather than the all around sweetness or toastiness of an Oktoberfest or the maltiness of a pilsner.. There is just no real balance to this beer.
This is the first Weihenstephaner I have not enjoyed much.
